Your Mum's right. The nearest I've seen to a footballing genius, even if he lost his way afterwards. I hope this all goes well and he can then sort things out.

All the best George - you'll pull through. It's at times like this that one thinks of the old days and what made George so exceptional.

Two personal memories. Firstly a game at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea who were top of the league at the time - must have been 1964 - George's first full season, he must have been no more than seventeen. He was so incredible that night turning the Chelsea right back Ken Shellito inside out and having scored the first then supplying a superb cross for Law to score United's second and decicisve goal. He was so entertaining that even the Chelsea supporters wanted him to get the ball such was his sheer entertainment value. Can you imagine that happening today ? The other memory is from a game against Arsenal at OT - must have been a season or two later. Everytime George got the ball the girls at the front of the crowd just screamed as if he were a pop star !

They said on MUTV an hour or so ago he was still in theatre.
Good luck george

George is out of theatre and expected to be in the icu for two days all being well.
But the next 24 hours are critical also the surgeon said all went well during the op

The thoughts of all decent football fans will be with him - I look forward to seeing him up and and about again.

One of the greatest footballers ever.

Hang in there Georgie. Saw you play when you came out to South Africa. Get back on your feet soon.
