Scholes right now. But its hard to choose between him and Keane, Giggs, Beckham and Ruud when they're all at their best.

Roy Keane. Just look at United with him, then United without him, and it should be obvious.

If we hadn't had Scholes this season, we'd probably be in the relegation zone. ;) The loss of Keane was compounded by losing Butt and Stewart too. A fit and under control Keane would make a big difference right now though, and will in January!

Keane is far and away out best player. SAF has built the team around him so that tells you something.

I would say Paul Scholes, if only he could tackle, so it has to be

He can tackle though, and press and mark, he just likes to let the opponent know he's about - which is what Keano said about him in his book.

Although I wouldn't say he's our most technically gifted player, I'd definitely have to vote for Keano as being the most important player for us.

Forlan.
Actually it is a stupid Q, But it is and always been GIGGZY.

blanc is the most technically gifted at OT.

Surely positioning and technique are different? Giggs and Scholes have the most technique imo.

technique aswell.

i love watching him live, he's deffo one to admire from the stands... infact i was shocked to see how good he was, the first time i saw him, i was one of the many who kinda mocked him at first..

Its just technique usually refers to ball skills, like dribbling, close control, touch, flicks etc.

yep.

excellent first touch, excellent close control, excellent tackling ability, good passing, and postioning.

you are refering to 'flair' which means dribbling skills and flicks etc etc..

Just different personal semantics I guess. I think Rio has flair for a defender.

i wouldn't agrue with that, altho iam not a fan of him showboating, i like defenders to get the basics right first...he feels that he has to do something extra just because he cost 30m.

different types, Blancs technique is superior to Rio's... altho you'd never see Larry, showboat, coz its not his style..

Ginger is another with great technique and so is Veron.

How on earth do you reach that conclusion ? What is technique anyway. How do you define it in such a multi faceted game ? The most allround gifted player is undoubtedly Paul Scholes. He can do just about anything. David Beckham is a hugely gifted player. Giggs is also although he relies too much on his left foot. Then there's Keane etc etc ....... If you think Blanc's good now you should have seen him ten years ago!

In reverse order then, my Top 10:=

Fab
Butt
Giggs
Rio
O'Shea
Becks
Ole
Ruud
Keane
Scholes

Nothing against those I haven't mentioned.

Considering that Keane has been the best midfielder in the world for the last 5 years ,it would be a bit silly to choose anyone else,so...Keane it is

If only considering this season, no one worth it more than Scholes. He has been awesome and very consistent.

If it doesn't confined in this season, then I will choose Ryan Giggs. A true star, performer and a player who can turn a game by his own effort -- this type of player is really rare in the current football world.

on and off the field characteristics over the 10 years no one has been better than Giggs. Very quiet, always proving his worth on the pitch and never babble too much.

This season, definitely Scholes so far. He's been the engine of the team. He's practically the only one in the offensive team who has worked the hardest in adapting to SAF requirements on the field.

Although as the season tenses up i'm looking forward to seeing much more of JOS. I think he'll surely be lined up to get the young player award this year.
