I can't help but want to look forward to the summer, I expect Van Gaal to continue to remake the squad in his image. Those left from the SAF era are really best suited to a game of speed and expression, I think we'll need to bring in several players who thrive in possession football to be successful at the top.

We're probably not going to be buying from Real, Barca, Bayern, Juventus, Chelsea or City. We're also not too likely to take attakers from PSG or Dortmund, nor will Arsenal or Liverpool be eager to sell us their best players even though they are selling clubs.

So out of the rest of the world of football, who are the best players? If we want to throw around some money, who is out there and very likely to be available?

If this is too all-inclusive of a thread just ignore.

Godin would be great to solve our CB issues. Has a release clause too if i'm not mistaken.
Depay as an option on the flank.

Southampton- Schniederlin, Clyne
Everton- Coleman, Barkely, Stones
Tottenham- Kane
Arsenal- Sanchez

Imo we need to sign 4 top quality players this summer who will fit straight into the team, I hope we sign-

De Bruyne
Pjanic
Schniederln
Kane (Maybe it would be a better transfer for summer 2016)
Hummels
Coleman

Yes, I specifically eliminated Arsenal as a club that would sell us their top attacking player.

Maybe we could make a first and second XI, give us an idea of what's possible out there?

Perhaps we can leave Hummels out as well, maybe we get him maybe we don't but Dortmund really isn't a selling club to my mind.

Is Coleman a RB?

(Covered)
Coleman Godin Stones Clyne
Sneiderlein L.Bender
????? Barkley Depay
Kane

Coleman is a RB, Clyne too but can play as a LB. Maybe de Bruyne as a winger? I know he played as an CAM, but can play on the wings too. Nainggolan for a CM spot maybe too? Strikers Dybala or this other Argie from Villarreal, Lacazette. Whats with Draxler these days?

Two words - raid Atletico. Godin would be awesome.

Thats the thing, we can easily get Schneiderlein ,Depay and Godin (we can get all 3 for less than the price of Bale!) if they wanted to come here.
All 3 are players who would directly solve problems we have on the pitch at the moment.

Just like RVP didn't happen...

I'm sure you appreciate how different of a situation that was. Sanchez just arrived at Arsenal, RVP was adamant he wanted to leave Sanchez has many years left on his deal, Van Persie had one. Sanchez has another big contract in him, he will have a big resale value while Van Persie doesnt. Sanchez is only going to get better, Van Persie is only going to get slower. At the time Van Persie was coming to the best team in England, Sanchez wouldn't be if he came here right now.

Other than that it's pretty similar...

Only Godin of that lot might turn us down.

You can't compare the RVP signing to buying Sanchez, Fergie personally contacted Wenger to broker the deal, also RVP was looking for a big move to win some silverware with the added bonus that he secretly had a soft spot for us. To just say "sign Sanchez" is pretty lame mate, so many variables today to signing a player, although the media would have you believe otherwise, coupled with the fact the arse fans would have a full on revolt after the RVP saga would be just bad for business.

Atletico tend to sell but unless Simeone leaves I don't see Godin moving, and if so it would be to follow Simeone to his new club IMO. Saul Niguez might be an option from them for CM.

Dortmund are a selling club but tend to limit it to one player a summer if possible. Hummels is a hard guy to read but I think Gundogan might well be up for grabs.

Roma often sell a player a summer and I think Nainngolan is more likely than Pjanic and would be better suited to fixing our midfield issue.

PSG will probably hope to offload Cavani and Lavezzi to balance their FFP issues rather than sell Maquinhos and/or Verratti.

I imagine Lyon would sell Lacazette or Fekir for a decent offer.

I don't know what Gladsbach's financial situation is so it's hard to know if Xhaka would be obtainable.

Palermo and Villareal would both sell their young Argentine strikers for good money without a doubt. Obviously PSV and Ajax will sell their best players.

Any mixture of the above would strengthen our team IMO, I also think Juve will sell Pogba but it will be to Real, and I'm not sure why people think Wolfsburg would sell De Bruyne given they have VW backing them.

It was a tongue in cheek comment guys!

Lacazette or Berahino (would be happy with either)
Schniederlin
Clyne
Lars Bender
Depay
Godin (might have to activate release)
Laporte (might have to activate release)

Midfield with Schneiderlin and Bender is going to be a solid pairing.
