Allright Caftards ... What do you think are the best opening lines to a song ever.

I love Dylan's "Hurricane" (one of my all time favourites)

"Pistol shots rang out in the bar room night ...... ".

Beat that !!

The breath of the morning
means I keep forgetting
the smell of the warm summer air.

Well I got a bad liver and broken heart,
I drunk me a river since you tore me apart.
- Tom Waits (Bad Liver and a Broken Heart)

God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe said, "Man you must be putting me on"

Dylan - Highway 61

Mama take this badge off of me,
I can't use it anymore.
It's getting dark, to dark to see,
I feel I'm knocking on Heaven's door.

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again

Simon and Garfunkel - Sound of silence

I write this alone on my bed
I've poisoned every room in the house
The place is quiet and so alone
Pretend there's something worth waiting for

Manic street preachers - from despair to where

Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks
Lick on deez nutz and suck the dick
Get's the feck out after you're done
And I hops in my ride to make a quick run

Oasis - feckin' in the bushes

"We put this festival on you bastards
With whole lotta love
We worked for one year for you pigs
And you wanna break our walls down
And you wanna destroy
Well you go to hell"

That makes you want to beat the crap out of everyone

Pink Floyd were pretty successful with opening lines. I also enjoy Metalica - One, The lyrics aren't anything extravagant, but I just love the build up to it, it's beautiful and must be included.

Christmas time, Mistletoe and wine
Children singing Christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time to rejoice, in the good that we see

Binatone Spectrum, Pacman, Commodore
ZX-81, donkey kong, fecking high score
Push it to the limit, couldn't push it any more
Wanna be a fecking robot after smoking loads of draw

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end...
My only friend, the end.

The Doors - The End

Very nice. You know how this plays at the beginning of "Apocalyspse Now" with this stupendous shot of a Nam forest being bombed ... gives me goosebumps every time.

Hey pretty baby with the high heels on
You give me fever
Like I've never, ever known

Michael Jackson - The Way you Make me Feel

Print: Ian Dury And The Blockheads - Plaistow Patricia Lyrics print version

arseholes, bastards fecking cnuts and pricks

aerosole, the bricks
a lawless brat from a council flat oh, oh
a little bit of this and a little bit of that oh, oh
dirty tricks

from the Mile End Road to the Matchstick Beacontree
pulling strokes and taking liberties
she liked it best when she went up west oh, oh
you can go to hell with your 'well, well, well' oh, oh

well who said good things always come in threes?
reds and yellows, purples, blues and greens
she turned the corner before she turned fifteen
she got into a mess on the NHS oh, oh
it runs down your arms and settles in your palms oh, oh

keep your eyeballs white and keep your needles clean

chorus
plaistow patrica (x5)

well her tits had dropped, her arse was getting spread
she lost some teeth, she nearly lost the thread
'till she did some smack with a Chineese chap oh, oh
and affair began with Charley Chan oh, oh

well that was jsut before she really lost her head
now she owns a showroom down at the Mile End Road
and her outer garments are the latest mode
there's a siemese cat in a council flat oh, oh
the finest grains for my lady's veins oh, oh

and when it gets out of order, she goes away for a bit

repeat chorus

G'WAN GIRL!!

That's virtually a copy and paste from boilerplatelyrics.com.

'Let's swim to the moon'?

No, let's not, it would be shit.

2pac - Hit 'Em Up

"That's why I fecked your bitch, you fat motherfecker!"
take money, westside
take money, bad boy killers

Those are lines 2-4, Line 1: I ain't got no mutha feckin' friends,

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold,
And she's buying a stairway to Heaven,
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are all closed,
With a word she can get what she came for.
