Have seen 7 olympics before the this one and must say the Chinese and olympians put on a good show.

From start to finish was excellent, venues out of this world.

It will be hard for London to match and I don't think they should. London will have its own Style and class of its own to put their own mark on it. Sadly keep Leona Lewis at home for the 2 weeks, she was poor today.....

Anyhow fair play to the Chinese and also the BBC coverage which was world class. More of Adrian Chiles and your guy who reported on the sailing please. Breath of fresh air.

Yeah your right it really was the best London will not beat that they shouldn’t and won’t.

Apart from Bolt, Track was average compared to other Olympics, I think Michael Johnson touched on that aswell, no line finishes which are always exciting. But generally a cracking Olympics, no doubt.

Agree with Baz, Adrian Chiles is brilliant, he is the reason MOTD2 shits over Lineker and co on MOTD.

The only other games I thought came close to Beijing was Barcelona. The culture and overall event was better in Spain but the word records, spectacular stadiums and performances of Phelps and Bolt make the Beijing games very special.

God help London having to follow that.

Ha ha i feel sorry for all my yank mates, they had to watch most of the games on 12 hr tape delay. Meaning they experienced the record breaking moments of Bolt over MSN and yahoo :D

BBC have been stellar that's for sure

Look on the bright side....we haven't seen the closing ceremony and London's less than stellar contribution.

yes the new dna doping is by far the hardest to beat

Well said, reckon I would have rated them higher if I actually saw the good stuff live

They were brilliant. I was very dismissive beforehand. The predictions of deadly pollution, police brutality, terrorist attacks and USSR style event rigging just hasn't happened.

Great hosts, great competition and great coverage. The best I've seen.

For me it's mostly about track and field. Bolt and Bekele have been great. Mexico City 1968 is my favourite overall in terms of performances.

We dont have 22 billion to spunk on the Olympics, thats why.

China spent $42 billion, and they need to build more stadiums and infa structure. London's budget is already around $18-$19 billion, and rising. I bet by the time the games open in London they have spent over $30 billion. London already has several venues so $30 billion i going come pretty close to the Beijing budget.
