Best live act in rock.

Muscle Bitches.

strobe-lit mini guitars, g-strings, lucha libre masks, alto sax, flaming cymbals, they really delivered.

Haven't seen many rock bands live, when I started gigging my musical tastes had moved on by then, but the best one I have seen was Def Leppard in Sheffield back in the early nineties, they were brilliant. great stage presence and great atmosphere.

Wished I'd seen Metallica in their prime, they're a bit shit now so I probably never will, oh and Queen, I would have loved to have seen them too

Metallica of about 14 years ago

Of today's bands, undoubtedly THE FLAMING LIPS

Going with Ivor and Alex here...Springsteen and U2 know how to put on a show.

Would have said Bowie, about thirty years ago, not sure about now.

what do you mean with best live act? if you refer to the show -lights, moves and that- i'd say rolling stones were ace here in buenos aires, now if you talk about the music performance roger waters hands down, he put tears in my eyes when he sang confortably numb and wish you were here -amobn

I liked the Who circa 1972. Depending on your mood, Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath had interesting stage presentations.
I think the Who in 72 would have been better than anything I've seen posted on this thread.Must have been amazing.

Always got a good show out of Elvis Costello...can't remember a duff one for any of the twenty or so times I've seen him. Nothing flash, just value for money (averages about 2 and a half hours per gig), great back catalogue to draw upon and the Attractions as a group were as tight as feck.

Not the best by a long shot...but even though in record form they've become shite.
Lost Prophets put on an amazing live show.

Hendrix 60's

Stones '72 tour of the US 70's
The Who back when
Springsteen

U2 Joshua Tree tour 80's

Muse. They weren't the first band to play the new Wembley 2 days in a row for nothing!

Dave Matthews Band
Cypress Hill
Bloc Party

3 very different types of music
3 very great concerts

John Mayer was another shout too
