Always been a pain to build around.

Rooney........Ronaldo........Tevez
........Modric............Schweini.......
.....................Rodri.........................

Or maybe

...................Cristiano.....Rooney...................
Nedved............................................Beckham
....................Redondo.....Matthaus.................

Has to partner with Rooney or Benzema.

Ronaldo------Villa-------Pedro
----------Iniesta-----Xavi---------
---------------Busquets-----------

As much as its unarguable who the goat is, the bastard was also lucky.

You take that Madrid team, upgrade it slightly where it's possible and there's your answer. He has to start on the left though if you want to maximize his strengths — with full license to roam around freely, of course.

Cristiano - Benzema - ?
Kroos - Modrić
Casemiro
Marcelo - ? - ? - ?
?

you build only around two versions as others are meh

United version:
Fluid 442 that can transition to a 433 with Ronaldo moving into front three
  • Other "winger" that is capable of playing as a midfielder in the three or just essentially a midfielder that is comfortable out wide - Bernardo, KDB, Gazza, Becks, Hassler etc.
  • Two hard working strikers with one that is comfortable out wide

Late Real Madrid:
Doesnt really need to be 433 it can be any formation with Ronaldo playing as a second striker or a "wide" forward....

  • Hard working, selfless striker that wont mind sacrificing his numbers for Ronaldo - so Gerd Muller even though he fits, he doesnt really
  • Rest of the team should be hardworking and good defensive wise because Ronaldo would do feck all
  • Leftback that can pretty much play on his own out wide
  • Ideally at least one GOAT provider from wide areas to make the most out of his heading ability that is second to none

Cristiano - Benzema -Boniek
Kroos - Modrić
Casemiro
Marcelo - Ramos- Nesta-Amoros
Van Der Sar

- The core of Madrid's midfield, consisting of Modric, Casemiro, and Kroos, is an unchanging central unit. They work well together as a cohesive group.

- Marcelo and Benzema are crucial components of this team. Marcelo's role involves leading the attack from the left flank, including dribbling and assisting Ronaldo. Benzema is invaluable for his selflessness and ability to draw defenders away, creating space for Ronaldo to score.

- Van der Sar excels in distribution, which is a critical detail. He can kick the ball directly to Ronaldo, creating scoring opportunities akin to what Mike Maignan, Alisson, or Ederson have done.

- For the right flank, there are several options in mind, but I choose Boniek for his selflessness, his ability to cover the full-back area, and his excellent work rate that covers the entire pitch. He wouldn't mind not scoring himself, instead focusing on facilitating Ronaldo's movements. His intelligent off-the-ball movement would directly benefit Ronaldo, similar to the Boniek-Platini dynamic( not at all).

- Amoros is chosen for his complete style of play. He is an all-action fullback with overall capabilities, good overlapping runs, and reliable crossing, which would greatly assist someone like Ronaldo.

In general, I don't think the remaining positions have fixed choices; you can select almost anyone as you see fit. If possible, a goalkeeper with precise kicking would be highly beneficial, as peak Ronaldo was fast enough to outpace any right-back. A goalkeeper with accurate kicking can create scoring opportunities directly from a kick in counter-attack.

Adding someone with a great first pass at CB (Beckenbauer?) can be beneficial. But that depends on the right back choice, you probably want a great crosser in the mound of Cafu/Alves/Lahm… and maybe in that case, with Marcelo already on the left, you don’t want anything fancy and can settle for a good old boring Baresi-Nesta/Kohler at cb.

Although the idea of having Koeman there pinging long balls towards Cristiano is quite entertaining.

How about Figo RW with this back Four-

Marcelo...Kohler...Koeman..Thuram

?

Agree with all of this

It depends on your setup and how you want it to be. You can choose the winger( wf or someone like Figo), CB(passing cb or both no-nonsense cb) or RB (at least with a decent level of crossing) in the way you desire and suit Ronaldo's playing style.

Ronaldo for Mbappe there

I always wondered how well he'd work in a front 2 with a false 9 like Totti. It would add some great passing ability further forward.
