i´ve not lived in England for a couple of years and i´m a bit out of touch on the comedy scene......i´ve downloaded the likes of peter kay, billy connelly, ricky gervais and of course edie izzard.......anyone know of any others that i should look to download.....errrr...i mean buy in the shop;)

Pfft you cant beat jasper carrott. jack dee is good and dylan moran and bill bailey both do brilliant stand up. Plus I imagine all our irish posters to be exactly like dylan moran, especially keane16.

I saw the title thread and came on here to say BILL BAILEY!!!! but I guess several other posters beat me to it :P

He's fecking awful.

Modern day Norman Wisdom.

Miles ahead of Norman Wisdom, he deserves it just on the pure effort he puts in, which can be seen by the perspiration during his shows. I've heard he has something like 3 suits during a single set. Plus, he's very funny, not everyones cup of tea i grant you.

totally agree, he's fecking gash.

and for those of you saying Dylan Moran, excellent as he is, he's nor British he's Irish. there are a few good new ones coming through, people like John Bishop and Andy Parsons, but my favourite is Paul Merton, his standup show is fantastic

If you are looking for something different, you could try out Dan Antopolski or Daniel Kitson. I've never seen them so I don't know if they're any good (they dont do telly), but I've heard other people say they're pretty funny.

(But don't blame me if they're shit...)

ROSS NOBLE! By far the best touring comedian. Constantly funny, original and quick witted. Seeing him again in October at the Opera House in Manchester.

Download Omid Djalili live at the apollo. That is class. He does use some of his old jokes but the first time I watched it I was cracking up.

Gervais is class, I have both of his DVD's.

Billy Connolly is the king of touring.

Bill Bailey, Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard, all great. Gervais is pretty good although some of his material is borrowed from his TV work/Steve Merchant.

Peter Kay is pretty funny and he was great live but it bugs the hell out of me how his material is catch-phrased.

Ross Noble
Danny Bhoy

Seen both, came out of both shows with tears streaming down my face due to excessive laughter
