Waiting on the next installment in The Saxon Stories' series, but have also read The Grail Quest and Stoenhenge.

Any other readers of his books on the Caf?

Never heard of him, the only book I am looking forward to is the Solomon Key by Dan Brown; fully enjoyed all of his books so far, particularly Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code.

My mates a devout Jew. He's well pissed off with Dan Brown, especially the newest one and fiction involving the legend of King Solomon.

I can understand why, but there is no doubting he is one of the best writers out there. The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons were two brilliant books, and from what I have read about the Solomon Key it should be as good if not better. This is what is going to be included so far:-

The fraternity that is known as Freemasonry
The Masonic membership of 20 of the 56 Founding Fathers
The semi-esoteric architecture of Washington, D.C.
Solomon Kullback, a famous NSA cryptographer
Robert Langdon as the protagonist

That isn't due out till late this year right, or maybe 09?

I've read Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci Code, and i'd rank them in that order as well. What about you? Hopefully the upcoming movie of A & D is a good adaptation, a better one than was the Da Vinci Code. There is a lot to fit in though so...

You expecting Sophie Neveu to be absent from Solomon's Key, as Vittoria was from the Da Vinci Code?

As for Bernard Cornwell, he does historical fiction. Sharpe probably being his most well known work, Sean Bean having played the TV role.

I think partly what is interesting about these books is the small elements of truth that they contain amidst masses of fictional material.
Through books like this, It's made me more aware of a fraternity's influence in history than I ever considered possible. Not that I'm endorsing some Freemasons rule the World propaganda, but clearly they had much more important influence in things Governmental, etc, than I gave them credit for.

Still, not sure about the fecking handshakes though.

I think it is currently scheduled for an early 2009 release so it is still a while off yet.

I love both books and I probably would rank A & D ahead of TDVC, just, but both were riveting reads (I actually finished TDVC in 2 days). Hopefully the film should be an improvement on TDVC, which was not half as good as it could have been.

Not sure about Neveu, she and Langdon made a good team and they got together at the end of TDVC (Athough that happened at the end of A & D aswell, so not sure, we'll just have to wait and see!
