Benteke to Chelsea?

Don't think there's a great deal of difference between Benteke and Lukaku tbh, at least when Ben is at his best. On his Villa form, I'd actually prefer him. He scored regularly, and also has a far superior touch and technique.

He's had a rough 2 years though, Liverpool move didn't work for him, but before then, he was preferred to Lukaku in the national team too, and both are about he same age.
 
With Remy probably off they need another striker to sit on the bench waiting for someone to break their leg. He fits the bill.
 
I think @dwd is taking the piss and just quoting that Madrid poster response in the Lukaku thread.

This is a non-story though, they'll end up signing Belotti or Morata.

They like their shit backup strikers like Remy, Ba and now maybe / hopefully / sadly, probably not Benteke.

The funny thing is he's probably 50M in this market.

Palace don't need to sell and bought him for 30M.

Benteke's a funny one, I don't think he became an awful player just because he struggled at Liverpool and I'd stop short of openly laughing at Chelsea if they ended up with him as I'd back Conte to get the best out of him as he did last season with some pretty unfashionable personnel.

I can't see it happening in any case though, as you say those sources are bogroll.
 
He's a better target man than Lukaku, scores more in the air too. His lack of movement and mobility hold him back, I don't think it would be a disastrous signing for Chelsea but I can only imagine Conte's face if they end up with him.

According to the Telegraph, it's Conte that wants him as a support striker.
 
The truth is that Conte is a massive homo and prefers beautiful blonde men in the team. Now you can see why he prefers Llorente to Costa. He wants to build a team of tall handsome players so he can shower together with them.

Really despise that kind of shallow people that use fake hair and prefers looks over skills

I really liked Benteke at Villa, and was even a little annoyed Liverpool got him as I thought he could be solid for them. Not a good fit for their side or the way they played, but he is still a good player with a lot of ability. He could do better than Palace, but understandable why he went there as he needed to get out of Liverpool.

I don't think he'd be a terrible signing for Chelsea, but not as their #1 centre forward.
 
Oh please, he wasn't good enough for Liverpool and I'm sure Abramovic won't let Conte to spend money on players like Benteke and Llorente :D

He was never going to fit into either Rodgers or Klopps playing styles, which makes it baffling why he was bought in the first place. He was good at Villa and eventually found form at Villa and managed to get a few goals.

After failing quite miserably at Liverpool, it would seem crazy for Chelsea to buy him for a fee that would probably be around £40m to £50m, though. He would be a grand signing as a squad player but it would be hilarious if they end up with him and we get Lukaku. I see this as lazy media bollox, though.

Hey, I am the OP!! Of course the sources are absolute bollox, but a few more media outlets seem to have picked up on this now. Thought it would make for an amusing thread, however..

Ha. It wasn't a dig at you, but the sources. Though you're right that the story is spreading a bit. Probably to be expected that Chelsea will be linked with any centre forward now that it looks like their plan has been foiled, so I'd question the legitimacy of any link in the next few days. However, I don't think he'd be totally terrible for them. A better fit than under Rodgers/Klopp IMO.

No he didn't, he tended to get a glut of goals towards the end of the season to get them out of trouble, over the majority of the season though he did feck all
