Hull City have signed Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old made four appearances for the Red Devils last season, including making his Premier League debut against Stoke in January.

He has previously spent time on loan with Peterborough and Oldham.

Amos is the Tigers' second signing in as many days following the arrival of former Leeds United defender Alex Bruce on Monday.

Prior to the deal being confirmed he joined up with his new team-mates on their recent pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Good luck to him, he's a very promising goalkeeper. Here's hoping he can our number 2 when he comes back next season

Anders will have something to say about that.

I think Anders's the type who wouldn't stand sitting on the bench for too long, can see him making noises about wanting to leave if he can't oust De Gea out of the team by the end of the season

He's only played two seasons in his whole career where he's been the nr. 1. He's 28. I think he's somewhat content with being nr. 2. He's our own Cudicini.

He was signed before DDG after all. Easy statement to make for a goalkeeper as well. It solely depends on what team comes asking for you. If no one comes he isn't going to make a noise. Not when there's a better goalkeeper ahead of him.

#Loanwatch: Ben Amos seems seriously injured as he's stretchered of the pitch. This was only his 2nd pre-season game for Hull City

@iamvsandeep He seems to have injured himself trying to save the ball. But went off injured. Stretchered and wearing a neck brace

Really rate Amos. He's got a real chance.

Hull City: Steve Bruce relieved as Ben Amos recovers from head blow at Doncaster Wednesday, August 01, 2012

STEVE Bruce admitted his relief after goalkeeper Ben Amos avoided serious injury in Hull City's 3-1 defeat at Doncaster.

The 22-year-old, signed on a season-long loan from Manchester United, was stretchered off wearing a neck brace late in last night's game after suffering a "nasty" blow to the head when attempting to stop Doncaster's second goal.

However, Amos was quick to regain consciousness in the City dressing room and Bruce is hopeful the youngster will be back in training tomorrow.

"Ben's okay," said Bruce. "He's a bit like a boxer, he's been out for the count and he's just a bit dazed.

"He's been up and about in the dressing room and with a good day of rest, hopefully he'll be fine for training on Thursday.

"The last thing you want to do in pre-season is take any risks, especially with a nasty head injury like the one Ben suffered.

"Hopefully, he'll be fine. He came around very quickly and we don't think there'll be any concussion."

The Tigers suffered their first pre-season defeat when conceding three second-half goals at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Although an own goal from Rob Jones capped a pleasing first-half performance, a brace from Martin Woods and Amari Morgan-Smith's close-range strike condemned City to defeat.

A badly-depleted squad saw Robert Koren (sickness) and James Chester (thigh) join the injury victims on the sidelines, but Bruce hopes to see several first-team stars back for the trip to Hartlepool this weekend.

Bruce was also buoyed by an all-clear for Liam Rosenior yesterday, after a four-month battle with an Achilles injury.

City included trialist Mark Fotheringham, the ex-Norwich and Dundee midfielder, in their starting XI last night and Bruce added: "Mark came in and did well. He is looking for a club and we'll take a look at him this week, possibly again at Hartlepool this weekend."

Bad news for the lad, could knock his confidence a bit.

I hope he can shake it off and show what hes got, because every time ive seen him play he has never let the first team down, a cracking goalkeeper.

Seems a bit odd. He was getting games there wasn't he?

No, he last started a game on the 17th of November and has been on the bench for their last four matches.

No point in having him somewhere where he isn't getting played. I think he'll either be sent back out on loan to another club or will stay here until the end of the season before being loaned out again as Championship clubs may not want or need a keeper on loan at the moment.

3 years older than Johnstone, who's highly rated, I reckon we'll see him go back out on loan. There's no point dropping Johnstone and halting his progress when he's rated more highly than Amos.

He lost his place to Stockdale when he came in on loan, I think, and then they dropped him from the bench for their own reserve keeper.

Yeah. But Amos is good enough to regain his place, even if he was dropped for 4 games. Could have easily got back in the first team in a couple of weeks, I am guessing.

No. He's not played there in nearly two months and it wasn't just four games he was dropped for - it has been a lot more than that, he didn't even make the bench for some games. Best to just cut our losses and bring him back as it is highly unlikely he'd get any more games there.

I would imagine that we spoke to Steve Bruce about it as well before recalling him.

Fair enough to recall him if he has stopped getting games there. I can see us trying to line up another loan move for him instead of bringing him back to play at reserve level. Or we send Johnstone out on loan instead

The way Hull are doing defensively at the moment - it can't be easy to get his place back. They have been really solid in defense the last month or so
