BELLION HAS JUST SIGNED!!!!!!

Bellion joins Man Utd

Bellion's fee will be set by a tribunal
Manchester United have signed Sunderland's young French winger David Bellion.

Bellion rejected a new deal at the Stadium of Light and signed for the Premiership champions on Wednesday, BBC Radio Newcastle has revealed.

United were linked with a move for the 20-year-old throughout last season, before Sir Alex Ferguson described the deal as "dead" after having a £1.5m approach rejected in January.

Sunderland wanted nearer £3m for the French Under-21 international, who made an impression in the Premiership because of his pace.

The Black Cats will be entitled to compensation under the Bosman ruling, as the player is under 23.

But length of service is paramount in the tribunal and his two-year stay at Sunderland may not be long enough to demand a significant fee.

I think he is one of the best strikers in the world, and i've seen him play for about 15 minutes. ;)

Probably - but the fact that you made a bid for him suggest that you wanted him quite strongly, don't you reckon?

Sure, obviously stronger than I thought.

Just seems weird to me that not many have been linked with him and hes just sat at Sunderland doing feck all while they struggled like feck.

But good luck to him I spose.

Paris SG was in for him as well

He's only a kid - Sunderland's problem wasn't up front, it was in their clueless midfield

Scored a superb solo when Sunderland beat I think Villa at Stadium of Light ... before Reid was finally sacked and Howard Wilkinson come in and left him aside ... well, the man has got some good eyes for potential I have to agree - that's why he sold us Eric <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Is he a winger or a striker?

Don't want to be a killjoy, but some sites claim that his agents are saying these reports are premature. Eg

<a href="http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=146726&cpid=8&title=Bellion+deal+denied" target="_blank">http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=146726&cpid=8&title=Bellion+deal+denied</a>

First teamer then?

4th striker?

I dont know what all the fuss is about. He's only a kid, and as such will only be on the periphery of the squad. His signing is an investment in future potential, nothing more I feel. If he has indeed signed for us, don't expect to see him playing in the first game of the coming season.

Unless something is afoot that is! <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

:( I hope not, I was hoping for a bigger name.

Bellion can be 5th striker... ;)

Oh I agree with him, its what I thought anyway.

Spose he might get a run out in the cup comps or summat.

FROM MANUTD.COM:

Contrary to stories appearing on other websites, Sunderland striker David Bellion has not signed for Manchester United.

BBC Radio Newcastle were reported as having announced his arrival at Old Trafford, but as his contract with the Black Cats does not expire until 30 June he cannot sign with another club until then.

No forms have been signed at Old Trafford, nor have any terms been agreed with David Bellion.

"David is out of contract on June 30 and until that time he will not be speaking to anyone," confirmed Bellion's advisor Mike Morris.

"I don't think it is any secret United like him but nothing has been signed."

The deal is as good as done then if Sir Alex wants Bellion...
