Beckham to Madrid for 38m... United get Defoe, Duff and Kewell...

I think if Madrid wanna pay 38m for Becks United should sell him... hes 28 and we can spend the money on some younger blood since a lot of our players are getting to 30...

I reckon(along with Big Ron) we should definitely go for Defoe... the guy has broken records, is a class act and is still in his teens...

Imagine him with RvN...

Another player we should go 4 is Damien Duff... he would make a great replacement for Becks... and is younger and can run past people...

Failing that Harry Kewell... will be available for a cut price deal since Leeds need the money...

All 3 will be nice...

yup same as. 38 million in todays transfer climate, for a 28 year old, is shrewd business indeed. I've been persuaded, yes itl leave a hole in our team but with 38 million we could snap up Quaresma (15 million??), Ronaldinho (10-15 million) wit a possible 8 million quid left to play with thta could be used on getting Kewell, or Duff or who ever else. And thats just the money from one transfer, Chadwick is off in the summer (2 million), Webber ditto (1 million), along with (if 'sources' are correct) Giggs (15 million)...so money wise we certainly dont have a problem, if the rumours are tue of course. Lets just hope fergie spends wisely.

Why don't we just buy a new team then? Who cares about Giggs, Beckham, Keane, Scholes, Neville, van Nistelrooy & company? Think of the money! We could get every young, hyped up player in the business! Plus Henry, Zidane, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, and Rustu. Let's buy the treble!

Players like Beckham have been here since they were children. They are the embodiment of the team and are not for sale. I don't care who we can buy for that money, Beckham is one the players who represents the team admirably. I'm getting pretty tired of hearing the glory hunters saying we should sell Beckham, Giggs, and any other player with a hefty price tag.

I'll now step down off the soap box.

why do u think that real are willing to fork out 38 mil?because they know what they're gonna earn out of ebckham is probably double or trpile wat they pay to MU.why not we keep beckham & try to earn that money?

and i agree mr woody,they have been here since young & they are the fundamental players of the team.look at scholes,shall we sell him if a club offer a huge figure for him?
 
I just think it's amazing that we trounce the barcoads 6-2 and because Becks wasn't playing then it's ok to sell him.

I couldn't give a feck if they come in with 100m... it's about pride. So long as Becks wants the shirt then we should want Becks. Tell Madrid to go feck themselves... we aren't Barca, Inter or Juve. Our best players should remain our best players.
 
I don't care how much money we're offered. If we end up selling Becks, we better get someone who is just as good or better, and I don't think there will be such a thing since Figo already plays for Real. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />
 
Ok I have no problem with selling Becks if there is silly money on the table but I dont think 39mil is enough, I know that the market is down and all but for merchandising alone i think he shouldnt go for less than the record fee.

Absolutely agreed...
If we sell Beck's, my life would be ruined for a start...he is such a loyal servant to the club and had a chance to show his back on the club and not to negotiate a contract with us, but decided to stay with us, because the kid's heart is with MUFC....

Yep, its not just Becks the footballer, england captain, pop icon; United fans love him, you can't buy another. Its like pulling the heart out of the team.

If they want Becks they could give us cash(about 25 mil quid + Joaquin(They buy him then swap with Becks)
 
I don't believe this story. Apparently, in the story they've quoted an anonymous source (they seem to be everywhere these days) and United have issued a statement saying it's categorically untrue.

Can a plc even issue a statement like that if it is true?

Real don't need him. They're just continuing the piss take.

It looks this way - Real Madrid know that the 3-1 lead they have is just not good enough. We have enough quality to beat them 2-0 at Old Trafford and they know it.

So they're trying to continue the mind games that worked so well the last time. They're afraid of us, just like we were afraid of them.

I only hope the players and the fans lucky enough to get to the match realise this.

To compare Beckham with Macmanaman is the joke of the day.
If Real pay a record fee, the player is always going to play. Look at Ronaldo, Real don`t need him. Morientes and Guti always look much better then him, but Ronaldo plays instead of them.
By the way Figo often plays on the left for Portugal. So he could play there for Real too with Becks on the right.

Becks is far superior to Macca but has drastically underperformed this season and last in some crucial games. I don`t know why. Maybe he needs to go to new pastures to reawaken his skills.
 
Interesting article in The Times on the Becks speculation. I think if he does go to Real Madrid this summer it'll be because he wants to go, although from reading this article I think there are those at United who think that he does in fact want a move. Certainly, in asking Ricardo about the schools in Spain, he's thinking about the possibility (can't believe how indiscreet Ricardo was with this!)

Also, I wonder if Real Madrid still wants to sign Becks after this week. He took a beating in the Spanish press and where would he play? Can't see Figo being benched for him and apparently they play with a couple of holding midfielders in the middle. They'd probably have to change the way they play just to accommodate Becks. And would they really do that?
