Good point.

he put the effort in yesterday.. but his performance was below par..

TBH i think he's more inspirational as england captain..

i agree with ya.

Can we just indent a white jersey top specially for him when he is the stand-in skipper so that it is reminscent of him playing for England? ;)

ok, maybe i should further explain my point. it doesn't matter how well david beckham plays for united, as skipper or not, he will never will praised like he will if he merely steps on the field for england. in their first world cup game against, sweden he really didn't play well for the little time he did play, but supposedly he was their "inspiration" and that which held them together for the first half. then he's a hero against argentina when all he did was slot home a penalty (even seaman probably could have done that)...i could go on.
the press is biased. plain and simple. and even though we don't want to admit it the press have quite a huge influence in the psychology of football. we think beckham's an england hero because they tell us he is, they tell us he's playing below par and we think he is, when really the margin of difference in his performance isn't that great...it's their words that sway us.
oh well...enough rambling...
