BECKHAM IN THE MIDDLE?

It's time for Becks to move inside where he can better dictate the overall play. Buy a quality right winger and goalie (Robinson or Czech giant).

I abdicated the moving of Becks to the middle and the purchase of Rui Costa at RW back in the 00-01 close season...

Moving Becks to midfield now would further crowd that area...Keane, Veron, Scholes, Butt, Phil, Fortune, the future star Fletcher...

Keane may well move to CB, which he would excel there for the next 3 seasons. Still, with Becks and Veron in CM, United have no ball winner...and that leaves the bench crowded- United would have to part with 2 players...probably Butt and Fortune...selling Butt for 6-9m would be a good move, and allow Fortune more opps...however, if Fortune is free, I don't see him resigning when he could walk into half of the Premiership clubs starting 11...and quite a few other clubs throughout Europe...still, if Fortune departs, and Becks and Keane move positions, the bench still has Scholes, Butt, Phil, Fletcher and Stewart...not a bad dilemna to have this much depth...I think Becks in CM could totally turn into a Zidane type player...and Ole can play RW with a young Quaresma grooming for a year or two...

United would still have to offload two players to uncrowd the CM...probably would sell Butt (Boro?) and Stewart...hate to see Butt move on, but it would probably be in his best interest...

to be honest hes had a cracker of a season on the rite and if hes gonna play in the middle who will be his ball winner next to him? keano, veron, butty? u cause a backlog of players who will no doubt get very itchy feet and irritasted minds on the bench if left there too long. u could put him there during periods of a game sure, but dunno bout from the start tho.

keep Becks well away from the centre IMO, i dont rate him in the middle at all.

I still prefer Butt to Fortune, and if one has to leave I would rather it be the latter. Putting Beck in the middle would be great and Keane would be switching between CM and CD. That way we'ld still have 2 ball winners in Butt and Keane. The only think that worries me is that Beck seems to need room to operate, that's why he's better playing wide.

If rumours are true, we will have the new Brazilian LF (4.8 mill.) and Bellion (Free) coming in. We may sell a couple of GK and get Rustu (free) as well as Robinson (5-6 mill.) By that time we would only have spent less than 5 mill. so it's quite possible that we would still add a few more names.

I've seen him on either and i thought he was predominantly a right winger?

As to Becks playing in the middle. IMHO.. No way.

From todays Mirror, a more interesting slant on the Beckham saga:

He's certainly big in Japan. There is no way of putting this delicately, but after the World Cup, Japanese girls had their pubic hair shaved into various Beckham hairstyles. The current one, with an Alice band, must be a challenge, but let's move on.
