Beckham for Ronaldo?

Why has he been allowed to get so fat anyhow? You'd think a Club like Real Madrid would have weight penalties for players who were on £100k a week.

No, but I'd take Raul.

He still had decent pace about him though - don't understand how, with the size of him...
I was thinking also that even if we get £38m for Becks, it's no use if we can't persuade a top world class player to join, so maybe we should tell Real they can only have him in return for one of their best... Raoul would be the prefernce though...

Raul would never leave Madrid,
Ronnie would both complement and also be able take Ruuds place (ie if he was injured).

For a fat bloke he did a good job of skinning Rio for the first goal.

To be honest I think you're all being a little harsh about Ronaldo's weight. He's not THAT fat for feck sakes. He is probably half a stone overweight, and in any case he is the "pudgy" sort. He will never have a thin face, so when he puts on half a stone it looks like 3. Didn't stop him from ripping us to pieces last night. I do, however, question his fitness

honestly (and this is probably flamebait), i would take Guti + some cash even though he wasn't spectacular in midfield last night, he has torn teams apart earlier in the year as a striker and he is very versatile, he would be a good choice to play behind ruud

sometimes his attitude looks bad but it couldn't be any worse than the way Ronaldinho has acted at PSG

Guti feels that he has not been fairly treated by Real, nor by Real's supporters. He's in the first team since he was 17, 9 years ago, and he has not been given so many chances as other players bought form far, like Flavio, or Anelka, or Solari.

You can explain his (sometimes) attitude. But he's not an unruly or dropout player, like Anelka, or Ronaldinho.

I'd take Portillo + cash.

The kid looks a real star in the making. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

I probably wouldn't. Getting Ronaldo would create 'issues' as to who plays upfront. True we could play a 4-4-2, but I think that would suit neither Ruud, nor Ronny's strengths. If we're going to sell Becks, it would need to be for a situation that definitely made us come out ahead. Selling Becks to Real would weaken us and strengthen them, which as we found out this week, would not necessariy be a good thing.
