Be scared,be very,very scared...........

A lot of players don't come back the same player after such injuries, can really affect the pace.

Keane says in his book how if you're rushed back you can really permanently feck it up. He took a lot of time to come back and took it very slow. Pires seems to be coming back quickly to me.

He was advised to take 6 months and that is how long he has been rested. He felt he was ready 3 weeks ago,but Wenger insisted he waited for the full 6 months. But point taken, many of these injuries are individual to the player.

It would be a shame to see such an exciting player affected by injury, but we saw it with Sharpe ourselves. :(

Pires got injured on the 23. of March, he is expected to maybe feature on the bench against Auxerre on the 22. next week. So that will be 7 months, so you can hardly say he's rushing back. RvN had a cruciate ligament injury and it doesn't seem like it has affected him at all, the surgery and rehabilition methods are much better now than in Sharpe's time.

Yeah, I'd be gutted if arsenal's best player was now a crock.

He isn't is he? Ruud snapped 2 ligaments and came back within a year. Gillespie is right.

Not worried about other's plans..He is going to replace another so far effective guy, whether it is the Fag or The Brazillian or Bregkamp(your best player really) or this or that, so its the same. Thank you for the warning. ;)

Do you remember Sharpies hat trick against you lot in a 6-2 demolition at the library?

'kin ace that was.

As a season ticket holder at Highbury,I was there for that match, though I thought it was actually 6-3 (?).

An interesting fact occurs to me.......do you know what happened on the 26th May 1989?? (10 years to the day before your win in barcelona?)

I know - thousands of people cashed in on a tesco special offer on yoghurt.

No Dizzy...

I have no idea.

What did happen on the 26 may 1989?

Liverpool 0 - Arsenal 2

a result which handed the title to us after a blank 18 years .Probably the most exciting finish to a season with Arsenal having to win by 2 clear goals at Anfield to secure the championship and doing so in dramatic fashion with the second goal scored in injury time by Michael Thomas.

I can still remember the thrill of it all which formed the basis of the book and movie by Nick Hornby 'Fever Pitch'.

Thanks for provoking the memory !!

ps I bet you were rooting for us that night ! ;)

It was a friday night was it not?

I have to say i was...big time.

Our pub was packed with scousers and we ended up on the tables cheering like United had just won the league.

Then we were fighting.

Yes it was a good night.

It might have been....I can't remember.I was at Anfield and to be fair to the scousers many of them behaved well, congratulating us on the win.
Liverpool did play negatively that night and I think many of their fans could see that.

I distinctly remember the yoghurt episode above all else. No one else does?

Spot the trend

26 May 1989 - Liverpool get pipped to the title with a late late goal...

26 May 1999 - Liverpool's worst nightmare with United winning the unprecendented TREBLE!! with a late late goal...

26 May 2009 - Liverpool's misery completed when they're relegated with a late late goal?? ;)
