60 minute prog. on United since early 1900s.

Don't know if it's a repeat or not - though I think it might be new.

There's Only One Manchester United
Sun 25 Aug, 10:35 pm - 11:35 pm 60mins

A celebration of 100 years of Manchester United through the men and matches that have made them one of the most famous football clubs in the world. W/S.

Feckin' PC!!! The clock is slow again (I keep on adjusting it) and I've missed the beginning.

feckING MAGIC!!!!!! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Right. No-one upset me. I'm emotional. :)

That was the best documentary I've ever seen on United, with footage I've never seen before, e.g. Duncan Edwards in hospital.

Bloody brilliant.

just finished watching...

talk about chills down the spine, hairs standing up an all that :D

bet there are millions of ABU's who fecking hated every minute but feck em' it was great !

hope all the lads manage to watch it .... if those memories and images can't stir up a fight and hunger for a UNITED player then ..... feck knows what does.

If ever they are playing in your town,
You must get to that football ground;
Take a lesson come and see,
Football taught by Matt Busby;
Manchester, Manchester United;
A bunch of bouncing Busby Babes,
They deserve to be knighted!

was excellent, pity it didn't last longer!

the footage of duncan was magic!

scousers: that why United are so glamorous!!!! <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

What a friend we have in Jesus
He`s a saviour from afar
What a friend we have in Jesus
And his name is Cantona....

I liked the bits on Billy Meredith myself. Merely heard of him, but never seen any pictures. Shame they didn't have TV then.

The clip they had of him didn't do him justice...

And to satisfy Giggzy's sexist tendencies ;) wasn't Bestie amazingly goodlooking.

fecking wizard with the ball too!

Quality programme. Really enjoyed it - especially Duncan Edwards footage. A friend of my father-in-law played in goal against him as a school boy. Duncan ripped a ferocious drive from outside the box. He got a hand to it but it flew into the net. Apparently he had bruised fingers afterwards!

Back to the programme: despite winning two more league titles after the Treble it's interesting they chose to finish with that.

Might prove to be a milestone around Utd's neck: it's almost impossible to live up to.

I thought it was ok. 60 minutes isnt long enough to make a proper docu about United's history. For example, Brian Robson or Roy Keane didnt even get a mention. Was more for the general public than for the fans.

I loved the quote that for 26 years United were all fur coat and no knickers.

(Or was it all knickers and no fur coat?)

Agree on the 60 minutes. I would love to see a comprehensive history of United, even if it comes out in volumes. Like the selling of Sparky to Barcelona, and then coming back.

And Denis Law was conspicuous by his absence.

But I loved it.

yeah i agree, they concentrated on the glamour boys like best, giggs and becks which was good but it would have been better if it had featured more of the likes of keane, robson, bruse, palli, law and smikes etc.

but hey you can't have everthing.

Perfect ABU antidote.

Presented by a Utd fan (James Nesbett) and with the not so good periods (1959 to 1964, 1969 to 1985) glossed over !

Hands up anyone who wasn't welling up inside during the Duncan Edwards piece :(

Has it been on before ? Not sure - it's the first time I've seen all 5 of the goals against Benfica in 65/66.

And Sheff Wednesday @ home 1993...what WAS Pallister doing on the right wing !? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Memories....

I agree, it was just a focus on a few great individuals that have played for the club.

Hate the way they slomo'd every goal and didn't show it with the commentary as it happened

A long shot here.
Does anyone want to sell me a copy (if they taped it) and send it over here. My brother's lives over there but didn't get to see it in time.

I will pay postage/packing/all that bullshit.

Looking forward to a 'massive' response

I flicked it on and watched it. Forget the team and colours, I just wanted to see George Best- without a doubt the most talented and gifted footballer to play in England since the birth of the game.

It then proceeded on to the 90's  and even Giggs thought it was hilarious that Bruce had time to score the second  - what was it 6 mins of added time ?

Although I hate Cantona for what he achieved with United , it was nice to reflect back on a footballing genius.

One thing I laughed at was the Cantona return and that Eamon Holmes laughing that he scored against us. He forgot to mention that Robbie Lad overshadowed Eric, that Redders won the ball for that penalty and that you were lucky to escape with your lives that day and needed a brilliant Schmeichel save from a Redders free-kick in injury time.

And I bet you thought I was going mellow for a sec ;)

PM me with the details!

George Best still dreams of pulling on the red shirt and playing with Giggs, Scholes, Butt and Barthez. :D Nearly brought a tear to my eye. <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> :)

I thought it was great at the end, when Best was talking about his dream :)

Thought the programme was fecking magic. Wish it could have been longer. 60 minutes doesn't really do justice to such a great club.
The Duncan Edwards piece was very moving.
The were some players conspicious by their absence. Dennis Law, Gary Bailey etc.
Was very susprised at the absence of Law. It was nice to see Bestie before he got really sick and had to go into hospital.
All in all a great programme

Thought the fact that Keanos massive contribution to the success of the club over the last 6 years was fecking comical, however ,not very surprising
