Am I right in thinking you can download programmes but the download only lasts for 30 days? If so, is it possible to rip that download to a DVD at all?

When you watch a programme on their website, it should have downloaded the FLV file into your temporary internet folder, so there is no need for official downloading. Let the video load to completion and then check your temp folder to see if it's there.

Really? Is there a way around this then? I need to record something for my mate, but since I forgot about it when it was on TV, I am hoping I can somehow get it off iplayer but I've been told downloads only last 30days and he is away for 2months so that doesn't help

Where is this temporary internet folder you speak of?

On IE, go to Tools > internet options, then under browsing history click settings. You'll then be able to click 'view files'.

I think it is the cache of IE only, so you would've had to view the video on IE. You might want to clear the folder before hand, because it can be quite hard to find what you're looking for in there amongst the thousands of files.

I hear this --> Orbit Rich Media Downloader can be used for this purpose.

Make sure it is running before you load your iplayer show.

Then right click its taskbar button and choose grab. the rest is pretty obvious.

And it goes into flv straight away. Terrific piece of freeware. Enjoy

Don't they use some sort of DRM encryption?

Maybe they do, but I'd imagine that's quite easy to get around.

User response to our new iPlayer for PS3 has been amazing. Although it's less than a week since we launched, iPlayer on PS3 now accounts for a massive ~10% of all iPlayer viewing, overtaking Mac (8.5%) to be our 2nd most popular platform for IP-delivered content. We'll have to wait and see whether this holds up in the coming weeks, but this enthusiastic reception makes it clear that users do want iPlayer on their TV - something that bodes well for Canvas and other IPTV propositions.

Anyone know how long it takes for programs to be put up on iplayer on the net?

Wanted to watch Wonders of the Solar System which started at 9 after MOTD2 before I go bed but don't want to be waiting round too long as I have work in the morning.

Check for the latest program that's on there and see when it aired, judge from there.
