Just got a new PS3 and after the system update there's still no iPlayer or Lovefilm icons on it. How do I get that?!

Lovefilm you might need to do a download, but iPlayer should just appear. It's not an app in any case, it's just a link to the web browser. I don't know, I'm not in the UK.

I think it's an app now.

I basically just swapped consoles, connected the new one, did the required system update (4.00), signed into my PSN network but nothing is coming up.

I had to create a Playstation Home account for some reason for it to bring up the TV/Video Services section of the menu. You can then download the apps from 'My Channels'.

TV and video are two different sections. This stuff should turn up under TV surely?

This did it. Installed Play Station Home and now I got Lovefilm, Netflix, and other TV icons.

Before that I went into the Store but there wasn't anything under the Video section, no apps or such.

Does anyone know if this is still blocked in Ireland?

Makes no sense, why would you need the HOME client?

I know, it's weird. I would have expected an app in the video Store section.

I didn't do much in Home anyway, I quit it right in the beginning when it started asking me to create that profile mannequin bolox.

I had the same problem with my PS3 Slim, not exactly sure what I did to fix it, i think it appeared after a whilst.

Anyone else use this outside of the UK? Any tips on configuration for performance, best port to use on the proxy etc.?

I'm also messing with getting the live TV going with get_iplayer, VLC and Tversity, but it's a bit hit and miss for some reason, sometimes works, other times doesn't. Still need to work that out.

In simple terms please...is it possible to get iPlayer on PS3 in the US? I currently use Expat Shield to watch stuff on my PC but would much prefer being able to watch on my PS3.

Yes Grinner.

1) Expat Shield running on your PC.
2) This running on your PC on port 688 or 8909 or 8080.
3) Change network settings on PS3 such that proxy server is set to local IP of your PC and port 6588 or 8909 or 8080.
4) Create UK PSN account and download the iPlayer for PS3.
5) Enjoy.

I have a method for the live BBC part of iPlayer on PS3 also, but I'm still tweaking it. Basically, if your PC can do these things through Expat Shield, then a PS3 on the same network can do it as well.

No, that's really annoying. How's it done?

Put the following in your hosts file (or block these things on your router).

127.0.0.1 anchorfree.net
127.0.0.1 rss2search.com
127.0.0.1 techbrowsing.com
127.0.0.1 box.anchorfree.net
127.0.0.1 www.mefeedia.com
127.0.0.1 www.anchorfree.net

or use any dud address on your network instead of localhost, then use adblock as appropriate to wipe up the rest.

On Windows the hosts file is found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
