Bayern Munich bid for Tranmere Rovers' Dale Jennings

Small winger - released by Liverpool some years ago and had a fantastic season this year. I think he made his debut at the start of the season and as I recall there were a few bids for him from Premier League clubs in january.

Considered the biggest talent Tranmere has had in God knows how long.

The Tranmere manager was on Talksport a couple of weeks ago saying it was virtually done - total value over £1 million with add ons etc.

He said that he'll go into the Munich Development Squad (their youth team I suppose).

Also been some speculation linking him with West Ham.
 
Bayern always buy these obscure young players and most of them end up at the likes of Mainz and Rostock and Köln in the end. Like Schlaudraff, the first example off the top of my head.

The Tranmere Boss made a great point though - he's taking a risk going over there but if it doesnt work out there's a lot of places to go lower and he'd probably have no bother finding another club in England.

Good move for him if it comes off - likely to benefit from the better coaching.
 
Apparently the TR Manager Les Parry said an Irish agent who has good Bundesliga contacts marked Bayern's card about Jennings prior to Xmas: West Ham put a bid in at that time which was turned down.....by the time the top EPL scouts started watching him in Jan he'd gone off the boil a bit.

According to Parry, the deal is worth Eur 2m if he progresses and TR do have a sell on clause. Parry reckoned Jennings scored 3 top class goals this season and left a lot of good pro's dizzy.....

Good club for him to go to if he knuckles down
 
I'm sure there are plenty of English players who are offered opportunities abroad, but the vast majority are frightened of leaving the country, learning a new language and leaving their family.

Fair play to the lad for broadening his horizons, I hope he does well.
 
Would like to see more english talent go abroad. Hope he succeeds.
 
Did he sign for Bayern? I heard the transfer was going through either today or tomorrow.
 
A mate of mine is a Tranmere fan, and texted me about this yesterday.

To paraphrase:

He's good but seen better.....beat Oxlade-Chamberlain to apprentice of the season, but we're accepting £650k plus add-ons and he's likely to go for millions. Not the players fault, but the small time mentality of Tranmere....He'll play for Bayern II if lucky and end up at a Championship club for £300k and we'll get 1%....if we were Leeds we'd be asking for £5m. He's not a patch on Koumas at the same age.
