Bastian Schweinsteiger | Exit Speculation

If he's not going to play, hopefully he moves in January so we have another high earner off wage bill.

I think he could of contributed this season, and him being frozen out is a bit odd imo.

Going to cost us several million to get rid of him given he'll still have 18 months left on his contract and they won't be paying him anything like we are.

Lazarus has only leaned out his head beyond the tomb entrance to be sent flying straight back into his grave by a ferocious baseball bat hit. Mourinho knew he's done the wrong thing again, but all he could do at that moment was keep on laughing frantically...

The talk about him moving to MLS in January iirc came came during the end of transfer window itself. Also United didn't include him as asset in their accounts. Those points clearly that he will be moving in January to MLS and United will let him for free.

Chicago Fire are the worst team in their division and the worst team in the league finishing with the lowest point total during the regular season. He will love Chicago and America, but sad he will not be able to have an impact on the team.

Well he did say UTD and Bayern are only European clubs he will play for. China is not an option, only MLS. LA Galaxy has some space in their salary budget now with Gerrard leaving them, plus LA is attractive city to live in.

Wish he could have played a few more time for us. When he has played he has never been utter turd, yet other players are nearly always awful.

Obviously frozen out for non-footballing reasons.

Knowing how Utd suck at these things they will be paying him full wages along with the rent for his new apartment

Why Chicago Fire in particular? Seems a bit weird.

This is so sad. I remember the excitement when we signed him. I still think he could do a job for us. I'm hoping for a minor miracle in that he gets some game time, impresses enough and plays his way back into the squad.

If the rumours about him getting special treatment by Van Gaal and taking advantage of it, are true, then I can understand why he might be persona non grata but he should at least be given a chance under new management and coaching staff IF he works hard enough.

Chicago Fire are awfully run, I'd be surprised if they could afford him. I reckon he might end up at NYCFC or LA Galaxy now Lampard/Gerrard have retired.

You'd think LA would be a far more attractive proposition than Chicago, football aside, as it's always a fairly short-term thing for these older players.

It'd be great if he would continue playing for ManUtd, but if he's not wanted then Chicago or LA are nice cities to live in. I've visited both cities and had a good time over there, I'd chose LA though, just because of the weather and the proximity to the ocean. It will be like a nice paid vacation for him anyway; in case he leaves.. .

Might as well carry on what's he's been doing for the last 18 months.

I watch a fair bit of MLS. I don't see the attraction bastian brings to any MLS team. He isn't the type that goes on a mazy run and scores a worldie. He is good as what he does, keeps it simple, keeps things ticking over. But he's always played in great teams, his approach was perfect, keep the ball and give it to one of the creative players. You don't get that in mls, when you are signed as a designated player, you are expected to be a superstar. You are the guy making the big money while the majority of your teamates are making peanuts in comparison due to salary cap restriction. Also Bastian isn't the type of player that puts bums in seats. That's not a slant on his talent but he doesn't have that publicity that makes people rush out and want to watch him play. The bundesliga doesn't have the same popularity as the Pl in the US. Top players this yr imo in MLS were Piatti at Montreal, Giovinco at TFC and Villa at NYCFC. On a bad they can win a you a game on their own and have done this season. On a bad day Bastian will do what he does , keep possession, play the simple pass, which works in a team of world class players but he won't get that in mls. The Gerrard experiment didn't really work, so LA might be a bit more savvy in their next "big" name signing. I think more and more MLS teams will and are starting to recruit from central and south america, and if they must go euro, they will be looking for a player who wins games.

No news? He's been awfully quiet the past few weeks. Obviously trying to keep off Mourinhos radar hopin to avoid being sold.

I remember the papers saying a week or two quotes from Mourinho saying 'the players have all the power' and if a player wants to leave he can. Which is why we're likely to be selling Schneiderlin/Memphis who actually want game time, Basti is happy earning his fat pay check until the summer.
