I watch a fair bit of MLS. I don't see the attraction bastian brings to any MLS team. He isn't the type that goes on a mazy run and scores a worldie. He is good as what he does, keeps it simple, keeps things ticking over. But he's always played in great teams, his approach was perfect, keep the ball and give it to one of the creative players. You don't get that in mls, when you are signed as a designated player, you are expected to be a superstar. You are the guy making the big money while the majority of your teamates are making peanuts in comparison due to salary cap restriction. Also Bastian isn't the type of player that puts bums in seats. That's not a slant on his talent but he doesn't have that publicity that makes people rush out and want to watch him play. The bundesliga doesn't have the same popularity as the Pl in the US. Top players this yr imo in MLS were Piatti at Montreal, Giovinco at TFC and Villa at NYCFC. On a bad they can win a you a game on their own and have done this season. On a bad day Bastian will do what he does , keep possession, play the simple pass, which works in a team of world class players but he won't get that in mls. The Gerrard experiment didn't really work, so LA might be a bit more savvy in their next "big" name signing. I think more and more MLS teams will and are starting to recruit from central and south america, and if they must go euro, they will be looking for a player who wins games.
