'tis a silly place
The Sun say Monaco and PSG are ready to go in with a 4m bid. They'll have to do a lot better than that imo. Poom is being touted as his replacement again.

Although it is coming from the most unreliable of sources, I don't think it is out of the question Fab will return to France.

I heard that his mother isnt well ( i think she is dying) and that is why he goes home to paris every time he can,
I have heard he wants a move home so he can be with her.
Cant really blame the guy if thats the case.

Agree with your sentiments entirely.

ohhh hell....hadn't heard of this....if this is indeed the case, then definitely barthez will have no blame attached if he does choose to leave....top bloke too he is.......to play on under such a situation shows real steel......this sure as hell makes you realise that even footballers are human too......sometimes it's just us idiotic fans who demand the near impossible from them, expecting them to play brilliantly week in week out with no regard for their problems/worries.....anyways to jedi master, barthez is and always will be a bloody brilliant keeper, just hope really hard he'll stay and give us a few more missed heartbeats....
;)

Maybe kevthered is right about this then, but it will be Rustu and not Poom (give me a break!)

I say all kevthered has is quick access to papers all over the world.

This rumour is an old rumour dismissed by Sir Alex before the World Cup. Even if he really wanted to get rid off Barthez, he wouldn't choose Poom to replace him. Secondly, the French clubs concerned have already good keepers (Letizi has made a good job last year for PSG, and Monaco has good keepers, Roma, Porato ans Sylva, the Senegalese keeper who is very good at the World Cup). The priority of those clubs is surely to buy field players, rather than an expensive keeper. Thirdly, Barthez isn't in good terms with Monaco's President, Campora, I don't see him coming back in France, while is he always praising the freedom he has in England (too much freedom may be). And when I read "following his poor World Cup"...Poor World Cup for the French team, but not for him personnally.

Anyway, I read all the French press, and this report doesn't come from France, certainly not.

Fab is on holidays in Saint-Tropez, and I guess he's not aware of those stories. He has given an interview to a French paper, where he says he's still very sad, and doesn't follow the games. He wasn't even aware that England will meet Brazil for the quaters...

That's true, but I don't know if she's really dying, Fab has recently praised doctors and said it was the most beautiful job in the world, so may be sh'll get through. She already had a cancer a few years ago.
