Yesterday on the net news had it that Sir Alex's portege Alex McCleish is willing to sell Barry Ferguson. Why don't Sir Alex get him. He is the closest thing to Keane with a young age on the planet and is cheaper than most. Plus he can play right wing and right back. Whadya think guys? :D ;)

How is he ? Never seen him playing... We don't need midfielders (should we have one, why not that Ballack-lad from Leverkusen?). We need defenders and one more hit man since Yorkie's got a new job as a driver ;)

Ballack is signing for Bayern Munich at the end of the season

I think Ballack's Bayern bound......

He doesn't play on the right flank at all. He's a central midfielder pure and simple, so why would Utd be interested in him?

Hes not much better than Bin either, he never gets a kick from when he meets Neil Lennon in the old firm games.
One position were sound in is central midfield and Nicky Butt is miles ahead of him aswell.

:) Ferguson is usually the outstanding midfielder in OF games, unless he's partnered by Berty Bomscare. As for the Butt comparism, thats like saying Butt is miles ahead of Stevie G.

He was decent until Neil Lennon came onto the scene, since then he hasnt had a kick.
Nicky Butt is having a far better season than Gerard btw, last tuesday Gerard was made look very ordinary and when Hamman came off he was useless. Butt however walked all over Deportivo, for the 2nd game in a row.

Whenever Ferguson's had a good midfield partner (e.g Tugay, Reyna, Van Bronckhorst) he's always won the 'duel' with Lambert and Lennon. Rather than putting it down to Lennon's arrival, its more to do with the vanishing of the rest of the Gers midfield, and the great crappo in its place currently (Konterman).

I agree about Butt - he's had a magic season.

Reyna only left a few months back, whatever the situation Barry Ferguson is long from Man Utd quality.

Ferguson IS the closet 'young' player to a Roy Keane clone. However, he needs to leave Rangers now to prove it. He will not develop by staying in Scotland where average premiership players like Lennon, Hartson and Sutton can become 'gods'
sorry Murt but youve got your Celtic blinkers on.

David Dunn of B'burn is better..esp on the offensive. He is also strong defensively. Michael Carrick is another young player who might be able to succeed keano(tho it's rather hard to live up to the expections)

Theirs loads of central defnsive midfielders much better than him not just in england but @ Man utd,Keane, Veron, Butt, Stewart, for starters who are battling for max 2 places, we definitely dont need another central midfielder,
For a fuller squad we need some adequate cover for Beckham on the right and and the left (unless Fortune plays as well as he has done recently).

Barry F would get into Liverpool or Aston Villas team for example, not Man Utd's.

dont get me wrong. Im not advocating United sign Barry F. Certainly not whilst Keano is still going strong. But i do think that Barry F shows the same sort of potential that Keano had when he was at Forest. He needs to leave Rangers to improve himself. I think he would have a major impact on most other premiership sides. Spurs,Villa,Newcastle, Leeds could do a lot worse.

I dont care if hes Mother Theresa, hes not Man utd material, spurs, villa, Pool or someone like that will snap him and hell do a decent job.
I rate him slightly higher than Danny Murphy and in fairness hes probably not far off Steven Gerard either.

Barry Ferguson to UTD?? NEVER!
all the above posts are going on about how he is the closest young player to Keano, some people are going on about Dunne/Carrick/Gerrard etc. have any of you seen Colin Healy play? He is fantastic. Of all the younger players he looks like he will be even better than Keano. If Mick McCarthy gives him more starts for Ireland he will displace Kinsella. they guy has an unbelievable engine, an eye for goal, he can pass long and short and he tackles like a demon. I think he is on loan at Coventry from Celtic but keep your eyes on him cos he is the next big thing, no doubt about it.

Healy is a player i thought would have made it at Celtic this year. But he's being held back for some reason. I think he's another player that needs to move on to improve. IMO players that play in that scottish league show NO ambition to improve themselves longterm. Its a bucket league, only slightly better than L.O.I
Rumours are that he wants to stay at Coventry for first team footy, so M.O'N better get talking to him soon.

I hope Colin makes it ,he certainly has the potential(also hes from my hometown and schoolboy club)I have to admit he does look a bit like Roy on the pitch and I hope Mccarthy doesnt take this fecking loyalty thing too far and leave him at home while bringing that bloody donkey Carsely. That would be a travesty,

I agree, he's an excellant prospect (especially at 20). I don't see why MON doesn't give him more playing time. I mean Lame-bert and Lennon aren't exactly spring chickens.
NO MICKO, NO. Leave the Carsley down... that's right, good boy. No, drop that Kennedy. Let him go. Bad Micko. :D
I hope that Mick isn't sufficiently mad to bring Carsley and Kennedy ahead of good young players like Reid and Healy. But I can see him doing it.

You sure? Cause he's supposed to be a natural #9. Not that great a finisher, kinda dissappears at times, but deadly in the air.

Sorry guys, just had to wheel that one out.
