Regarding Malacia and very long absences, Hargreaves was out after the CL final in 2008 for over two years before that five-minute appearance against Wolves in 2010. That's probably a record.

Also, Jesper Blomqvist played in the 99 CL final and then did not appear for us again for two years until his contract was up because of his knee injury.

Yeah, I'm surprised because I didn't remember Hargreaves making those very few appearances at the start of 2008/9.
