Why was i banned yesterday?

I'm confused......I'm Innocent :nervous:

PM me as to the reason

Maybe someone with a very similar ip was banned which accidentally banned you.

Do you use a large internet provider?

Just had a look at your I.P. number and you are using a mass one from BT central.com so it looks like you have got a similar one to someone who has been banned.

dont think its that to be honest because if we had banned the IP range then i think he wouldnt get in at all. he's been coming in and out over the last few days, i reckon its more likely to be something to do with his cookies or something.

If he is with one of the big isps, which he is AND that isp used variable ip addresses within a range then it is possible that we have been too specific with our ip block and we should block at a higher level.

I'll have a look and see what can be done.

You have so may ip addresses that it will be a huge tsk to trawl through to find the offending one. Bets advice for now is that if you have a problem, log out (which deletes the cookie), disconnect your internet connection and then reconnect which should be ok since you will be assigned a different ip address.

I'll try to find the problem when I have more time available.

If it happens again you can get back in as Wibbs says since your IP is dynamic and every time you connect you will get a new one. Before you log off however, visit this or similar IP locators and make a note of your IP address at the time you got the banned message then PM us with the address.

We can then easily unban the offending IP/IPs which should remove the problem.

This is disgraceful behaviour on the part of the Admin.

Tut tut!

As an aside (maybe this post should be in the computer trouble thread in the general), I'm sitting here in Los Angeles, but the URL you gave me shows my IP address in Massachusetts? How does that happen?

I have no idea how far you are from Massachusetts, but perhaps that your ISP's main operation is run from there. I had a simular thing as you. I ran the check on my ISP when I was with BT, It showed me as being in London (150 miles away).

I'm at work (looking busy), and the corporate office is in Los Angeles, where I am. That's about 3000 miles from Massachusetts. I suppose it's possible that everything is run through some ISP in Mass, but I thought it was strange. I'll look from home and see what that one says. Thanks, yaps. :)

That and the fact that the ISP locators aren't always 100% correct. I am much more careful these days about making accusations against wind ups based on an IP locator since I pulled up one suspected WUM in the newbie and then subsequently checked and found that different sites gave completely different locations for their IP address. Some of the Asian and Aussie ones in particular can confuse the searches, mine at home occasionally shows me in Thailand :wenger:

The US and European ones are generally more accurate though although companies like BT and AOL all tend to use pooled addresses in London for everyone in the UK. Yours is probably similar.
