Not sure if this is the right forum for this thread(?)

It appears as though United are likely to sign at least one, possibly two, of Sunderland's academy players.

Their new owner Stewart Donald gave an unbelievably open interview to fan podcast Roker Rapport. It's very much worth a listen as Donald goes into absurd transparency over transfer negotiations from an owner's perspective. He slams agents and speaks directly about the future of several players like Jack Rodwell (leaving next week apparently), Paddy McNair (bids accepted from Stoke and Boro apparently) and many others.

Listen from 42.59 to 43.42

He essentially says 2 of their academy players are leaving due to interest from United, Arsenal and Spurs. He mentions United twice and puts emphasis on us.

I've been on a Sunderland forum and they reckon the players are Bali Mumba and Sam Greenwood.

Greenwood's a 16 year old striker who has been capped by England U16. He's been linked too with Stuttgart. Mumba is also 16, plays as a DM and made his first team debut on the last day of the season in a 3 nil win against Wolves. He's been capped at England U17 level and became Sunderland's youngest captain as John O'Shea handed him the armband as he was substituted. Sunderland fans speak especially highly of him.

Thought I'd flag this up. Do check out the interview though - fascinating stuff.

We could be looking at front pairing of Greenwood and Greenwood next season in the U18s. Any videos of either of them knocking about anywhere?

I wonder if there's any relation between Sam and our Mason? There was another Greenwood at Sunderland released a few months back. Sam was linked with Stuttgart as I mentioned but it does look like he's been swayed by English interest.

Thanks. He is very impressive in the interview. I listened to over an hour of it. Must be really annoying dealing with agents.

Just to point out, he did mention the others teams twice as well, in relation to their academy players leaving.

any idea if this is true? Sam Greenwood is a very very good player.

I remember Mumba is good, and was captain England U16s at one point me think.
Would seem a strange decision to leave Sunderland when he was in and around the first team last year and made his debut. Now that they are in League 1 I would have thought he would be looking at even more first team football. Mind you it must be hard to say no when the bigger teams are circling.
