Badminton Fight

fecking hell  more soft cock than Football players! At least go toe to toe if he wants to rumble!

Oh shit, looked like from the other angle there was hardly anyone there. The whole crowd was sitting there just watching

He must have did somethin as the guy doin all the chasin has a badly cut ear needin stitches. I can't see when that would have happened but

Smacked him with the racket I'd say really early in the piece right at the start of the chase he has a racket but discards it pretty quick. The chair .

edit: As he's running past the crowd he gives him a couple of backhanders up pretty high .

Wow, you don't often see proper full on clashes like that in sports. There must've been a back-story between the two when they were doubles partners to cause all of that. The guy in yellow definitely looks like he was the one giving it all, and hitting the guy with the racket too... They're both going to be so heavily punished for that, that's their careers over. Such a shame.

I doubt the guy that was running away like a pussy will get too heavily punished. What could he do once the other guy went postal?

The woman commentator

"This is totally unacceptable."
"I've never seen this before."

No shit!

If I've got them the right way round, the guy in yellow has got a 3 month ban for provocation, the guy in orange a 2 year ban for beating him up.

If that's true then that's harsh on the other guy. He got whacked in the face with a racket!

A better view:

"In Badminton there's a lot of ego, a lot of testosterone going on..."

What the feck? Are badminton players the modern day gladiators now? you couldn't make this shit up.

Also,:lol: at Forrest Gimp. Run Forrest, ruuuun!!

It's a weird statement because badminton players are quite docile compared with many other sports. Two of the "bad boys" in badminton, Lin Dan and Taufik Hidayat, are called "bad boys" because they are bad losers and therefore do extremely nasty stuff like throwing their rackets down and showing frustration on the court.

I don't ever recall a (former) doubles pair ever having this level of animosity, though. In badminton, most doubles pairs are drawn from a pool of players and changing partners during your career (and not through retirement of one partner) is not uncommon. If a pair has this much bad blood, the national team should have broken them up way before it got to that point.

Ha. Forrest Gump is exactly what I thought too!

"A lot of testosterone"? It's fecking badminton, for feck's sake.

How does this compare to ping pong fights? I've heard they can get pretty vicious.

The worst one I know of happened about 15 years ago, it made the front page of the Sun. My coach was telling me about it. Apparently these two guys who didn't like each other we're playing and got in an argument, and then a fight. One of them ended up having a testicle removed and now has a hunchback. The other one was sent to jail for a long time.

There was another recent one where a player was banned for 3 seasons for hitting a spectator in the crowd with his spare bat because he was cheering against him too loudly.

There's probably worse stories from abroad but these are the worst I know of from England. You mostly just get major tantrums, bat throwing and that stuff.
