I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
Sequals to games you really think they should never have done.

Mine is Mafia 2. If somebody took a dump, rapped it in tinfoil compressed it down to the form of a blu ray disk and sold it as a video game, it would be better made then the shit found on the Mafia 2 disk. Possibly the worst sequal ever made, they took every thing that was good about the original cut it out and then ripped the game to shreds selling it off in parts as DLC. The ultimate feck you to the Mafia fan base that had kept its patience for 8 years when expecting a new game. 8 fecking years! and that is all they could come up with and still managed to rip the players off. Meanwhile in that same 8 year period, Rockstar managed to produce 4 of the best sandbox style video games ever. All of which were triple the length of Mafia 2 and 10 times the story line.

feck YOU 2K

Mafia II I thought was great -

The ones I hated were all the Final Fantasy games after FF X, WWE Smackdown games after Here Comes The Pain seem pretty pointless or I could have just grown out of them. The latest Prince of Persia for the PS3 sucked especially when I was so eager to see the second game of the cell-shaded Prince.

I've got FFXII on PS2...I think it's great, but a little too long winded.

Agreed on X. That was fantastic but my favourite has to be VIII

David Beckham Soccer shouldn't have been made for the PSOne...horrendously bad game...can't believe I spunked $50 on that pile of wank.

I haven't played it yet, but Bioshock 2. The first game ended perfectly, it did not need any prequel bollocks, just let it die.

Halo 2 and 3 were glorified turd sandwiches.

Uhhh, can I say Team Fortress 2 after those fecking updates? (Name that stupid hat and weapon marketplace) The game sucks now.

VIII and VII were both great but when I first saw X on the new PS2 (at that time), I couldn't imagine anything looking better than Zenerkand (sp?) and I really enjoyed the leveling up system in that game.

More sequels: Medal of Honor. WTF! This is the best they could do?

Every game in the series after Unreal Tournament as they completely forgot what made the game the success it was and went down the oh look how pretty we can make the game look ruining the gameplay for a large section of the playerbase. They aimed for the pro gaming leagues with the hope there 32 man sized maps would be jumped upon for lan competitions in the USA but forgot for online play 32 man maps would just become a lag fest.

Also it felt at the end all the games were just an advert for the engine powering them with them pushing how the game looked more over what is important for the gamers playing it, which is fun and gameplay. If the game plays like crap it doesn't matter how pretty it looks to the player base, as once the initial buzz of the game wears off there is nothing to hold interest long term. This was proved in the UK UT scene with clans just that had been going since 1999 and the original UT on the whole just shutting up shop due to lack of interest in playing the newer versions. Combined with game service providers stopping supporting original UT what was once a thriving community came to a crashing halt shortly after UT3.

Resident Evil 2.

3 was not much better but they completely redeemed themselves by bringing out the monster that is Resident Evil 4

International Superstar Soccer Deluxe - original was a classic, set the blueprint for Pro-Ev and probably the first to improve on Sensible Soccer of the early 90s. The deluxe follow-up was a shocker.

SMB2.

I don't think Paradise disappointed.

Need for speed post UG2 have been absolute rubbish for me. Kill the series leave it for five year and come back.

They're now releasing 2 games a year

I liked Hot Pursuit. Course the Shifts are diabolical

Resi 2 was a very good game. Much more to it than the 1st one. The 4th wasn't all that good to me, then again I played it on the Wii

That is hilarious. To say I'm a liiiiitle bit obsessed with that game is an understatement. Easily in my top 3

Grim Fandango was absolutely incredibly good. Dammit, now I want to play it again.

Think it must be my all time #1 game. There's a guy from my high school (13 years back) and we occasionally meet at mutual friends. The only topic we ever could talk about is whether Grim Fandango 2 has been announced

Was the roll eyes at me or at NFS. Hot Pursuit was fine, not fantastic, but they can't really keep releasing a new one every year. Thats how the series got stale in the first place. They need to slow down production and actually take their time. Problem is, too many people are ready to go out and buy their products each year on the premise that it will be better then the last.

The rolleyes was at NFS. Pretty sure they've a similar setup to COD now: two different developers working on releasing games so they always have one hitting the shelves in the near future. It doesn't allow for much improvement but it makes them money so they're just focussed on rolling in it

Nah mate it's clear we are on completely opposite ends of the appreciation spectrum. I loved Res 1, hated Res 2 and loved Res 4 on the Wii

:)

If someone knows a way for me to play it on Windows 7 (via downloading something) I would eternally grateful. I have the original Windows 95 (or maybe it was 98) CD but it won't play :(

It's really odd isn't it ? The only fans of Grim Fandango I've ever met are obsessed ones who got completely caught up in the game's magical atmosphere. Seriously. I don't think I've played a game since that has imersed me so well. Res 1 is a close second.

I know this sounds a bit whacky but take the town of Rubacava for example. I wanted to feckin live there ! I used to just wander about and go into the various locations. The music was incredible and when you went down on the docks where the old sailor was, with the help of the music it had an uncanny way of making you feel lonesome (or something to that extent)

Amazing

Grim Fandango | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos (I made a myspace page) :nervous:

I can't see that page as it's blocked and I'm in work but I'm almost certain that's the one

The part that always got me when I'd play the game again was the winning ticket puzzle in the cat racing. I used to not play it for 6 months to allow me to forget the small, niggly puzzles and it always provided the same challenge. Smoking a lot of pot helped this.

Also loved Glotti's comments when he was drunk in the high rollers lounge. There's one on there I use in conversation that goes 'That's the sugar pappa likes.'

And then there was the French waiter that you locked in a pantry. Quality. I have to say, I felt the game declined a little after Rubacava. I didn't enjoy the underwater stage as much
