Ayala, Southgate and AN Other striker

Depends on what striker we're talking about......

Southgate could actually be a good signing, a no-nonsense kinda typical English defender with very small flop-factor......

Yes, and he's a captain-type of player as well, which we do need in the back four at the moment.

My preferred attacker would be Duff - not an out and out striker, but we have got two of them already.

Is that enough?

ayala, southgate AND re-sign larry??? 2b honest ayala and any of the other two deals i would be happy with. ayala is a rock.

i think we need ONE extra forward player too and i hope its duff. me finks he wil b top scorer for ireland this summer and one of the surprise packages in the wc.

ayala , tudor/southie , beattie

yell at me if you like but the boy can use his head (so can tudor). and scored agaist all the top sides b4 injury.

duff is not for sale btw, in case some of you have forgotten, and is unlikely to want to give up his first team place anyway

I don't think Fergie thinks much of Southgate. If he did he would have signed him when he wanted to leave Villa, surely ? !!!

A good point, but didn't we have Stam back then?

But we had no partner for stam then. Johnsed was till injured and Brown was only beginning to find his feet.

Southgate joined Boro last summer - at the time we had Stam, Johnsen and Brown, hardly a reason to bring Southgate. Anyway, he might be a decent option if Blanc doesn't stay, but if he does... there's no point.

Didn't Southgate have a ruck with Keano a while back ?

I'd like to see him at OT btw.

I think Roy was sent off against Crystal Palace for getting involved with Southgate when he was there. But he is a model pro and if he was to come he'd certainly be useful to lend his experience to Brown / O'Shea etc.

Yes but Fergie had doubts about Stam and Johnsen was and still is injury prone and therefore unreliable. An opportunity missed I think.
