Would they be a useful addition.
I Think Ayala Would because he is predominantly a defender but he can also play on the Right of Midfield and so could provide useful cover for Becks.
Nesta has a very strong presence in the box and also scores quite a few. Problems tho r that like Seba it will take them a while to adjust from Spanish/Italian game and do we really need more misunderstandin between a multi national defence and a Fab?

You are wrong. Nesta is a Blanc clone with just more speed. He will settle in quick. Ayala is more of a German like defender. Like Juergen Kohler or Keown. Good marker, physical pressence and invincible in the air. Good going forward to with the odd goal. I would personally not choose between the two. I would rather we realesed Johnsen and bought both to add to Blanc since Nesta is comfortable at right back!

You're both wrong when it comes to one thing, which is that we shouldn't move defenders around. If Nesta can play RB, who cares. At this level you need to have a settled defence and not move them around every game, just like midfield this year

yes all wrong !!! ...

who cares abt who's playing RB ?... we have more than enough choices there no matter who come in, he is to solve the CB problem ... NOT RB !! ... and definitely non of these chap will play in Becks position <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

You are most wrong. Nesta plays right back for Lazio. Gary can be a back up for the right and Phil for the left. Hell. Gary can be cover for Becks.
Imagine such a defence

Nesta Ayala Blanc Silverstre

Tell me you would not like to see it happen? Say it ain't so? <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Welll ok ... I am ok but not really excited abt it ... and hell it will means :

25mil -- 15mil -- Blanc -- Silvestre

Great !! ... 40mil gone for two "superstar" and ended up Gary Neville on the bench ... fine .. fine ... logical ... <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

You are all wrong. Ayala has never played in midfield and, to my knowledge, Nesta has never scored a goal that wasn't an OG.

Ha.Not against Inter he did, he was at right back stam was marking Ronaldo and Couto Viery Remember? :p

I think Ayala would do an excellent job at United and if there were any doubt that Seba would leave they would be vanished as I think another Arge at the club would help them both settle down better.

we won't get both, if we even get either. and imagine telling nesta, central defender for italy, in one of the tightest national defences, that we would be buying him to play right back. hmm.

besides, considering all the defenders we've been linked with, we should have a pretty solid defensive line up next season. should look something like this

Carrol

G Neville -- Blanc -- Thuram -- Nesta -- Cannavaro

Ayala -- Brown -- Desailly -- Lizarazu

Keane

Bench: Wallwork, Collocini, P Neville, Silvestre, May, Steele

His never had a problem with it at Lazio or for Italy when they play 4-4-2 <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />
