CUP KICK OFF TIME BROUGHT FORWARD

Sunderland AFC has today been instructed by Northumbria Police that the kick off time of its third round FA Cup tie against West Brom on January 5 will have to change from 3.00pm to 12.30pm.

Newcastle and Berwick are also playing at home on that day and Northumbria Police have advised the Club that they would be unable to provide adequate policing to cover all three matches if Sunderland and Newcastle were both to kick off at 3.00pm.

It has been decided by Northumbria Police that the Newcastle fixture can go ahead with a 3.oopm kick off, as originally planned, whilst the Sunderland match will be changed. The Berwick match kicks off at 5.30pm.

The Club has made strong representations to the Police on behalf of its fans and playing staff since the fixture was announced in an effort to make sure that the tie was not changed.

Chairman, Bob Murray, said: "We are very disappointed with this decision, the draw for the third round of the FA Cup was over two weeks ago and to leave it until four days before Christmas to advise us of a change to the fixture time is unacceptable.

"Tickets for the match have been on sale since the 12 December and many of our fans will be seriously inconvenienced.

"Sunderland AFC has a large number of fans that travel long distances to attend home games and in many cases they will have already made travel arrangements which could also mean they are out of pocket as well as inconvenienced."
West Bromwhich Albion is also against the time change. More than 4,000 fans are planning to travel to the Stadium of Light and again travel arrangements are already in place causing major inconvenience to the Club and its supporters.

Rio injured as well:

RIO FERDINAND fears that he has received 'severe ankle ligament damage,' after coming off injured during Leeds United's FA Cup clash against Cardiff City.
Gavin Gordon won the ball as both players tussled, but the England international defender was caught on the ankle and immediately replaced by Michael Duberry.

Ferdinand told Skysports that he initially feared he had broken his ankle, but added that he was fairly certain this was not the case. However, he worryingly added he has almost certainly damaged ligaments, an injury which could sideline him for a lengthy period.

The news will come as a major blow, not only to Leeds United boss David O'Leary, but also for Sven Goran Eriksson who may have to do without Ferdinand for the forthcoming friendly match against Holland.

Leeds are out? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Now we've gotta get through (tough game <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> )
