hi,

I notice your quite big into your rap and i recently have started attempting to make my own rap tracks with a view to releasing a mix tape in the next few months. Could you please give me some advice on these tracks:

Jaz1's sets on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Please give your opinion straight up, do i have some sort of talent to work with?

thanks for even reading this mate!

Hi Grapey

 I wouldn't say I'm any sort of rap expert! The man you want to talk to is Hectic.

The point I made

I got a PM too.

Last time someone tried to show off their rap prowess to Hectic, in the newbs, they got destroyed.

He still had the tag line "Krump at me, Bro" last I knew.

So I can't understand the hesitance.

I got the PM too. It is interesting to hear an Asian Glaswegian rapping in his local accent.

I cant really understand scottish people when they talk normally so hearing a scottish accent rapping results in me not having a fecking clue what 99% of the lyrics are. But I have heard worse.

No I'm sorry just no, stop rapping. This might hurt your feelings but the biggest problem with rappers is no one tells them they're shit, too many yes men in rap. As a British Asian I cringed when you said 'Paki' as part of your lyrics, it just doesn't sound right.

Woah that reads as very harsh. Anyway I guess a better way to put is, first of all being British means it's very difficult to have a viable career as a rapper, being Asian probably makes a heck of lot more difficult too. You can probably be a rapper and a good one if you work at your craft but you won't make money out of it, as a hobby feel free but don't pursue it as a career. Also considering your strong accent you probably need to adapt your flow to enunciate your words better.

Listening to the lyrics has me worried.

Lighten up son. Anger issues, then again I would be if i was part of a diaspora locked in Glasgow.

Do any of you have any positive criticism to give?

I had a listen - its not a bad effort for an amateur but quite formulaic at the same time - reminded me of Goldie Looking Chain for some reason, must be the Celtic drawl

Yeah, I've heard worse too. He's like an angry Apache Indian without the bangra influence.

It's shit

I haven't listened to it, but all rap is shit.

I hope the guy does well just becuase he is from the caf, but having listened to him, and i like my hip hop- it is just not my cup of tea. Fair play to him though- has more talent than i do as a rapper.
