Back by very popular demand is the return of Ask The Opposition. Our segment where we ask fans of opposing teams forums some questions and post a selection of the responses back on here.

I've asked questions to Leicester fans on FoxesTalk (click link to view the thread on their forum as there've been so many replies that I couldn't fit them all in here) and here are their responses. Thanks to some newbie users for providing some of the questions (they have been credited):

Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United?

Deucalion: I don't know about van Gaal, but considering the time Alex Ferguson was given and what he managed to achieve, I think United need to give someone time to build their own legacy, as Ferguson was always going to be a tough act to follow.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: He could well be but he'll need time for him to let the squad gel. The "right man" is very tough to call as Fergie will probably never be matched.

cjslcfc: For me it's hard to tell yet. He initially seemed intent on forcing a system on the players rather than basing his system to get the best out of the players he has. I think he will do a great job, as he has done at many big clubs, but it may take a lot longer than the fans want. It's a bit easier when you can get players like Di Maria and Falcao to help you out!

EnglishOxide: For now he seems the right fit. But he is literally flavour of the month. I think his reputation has revitalised United and he alone is the reason Falcao, Di Maria and Blind joined. So its a good move whatever happens from here. I'm sceptical of his tactical ability though.

kingcarr21: I believe he can do the job for United but only if he sticks with a base formation of 4-4-2 diamond. His 3-5-2 formation clearly wasnt working and looks like he has learnt that now. Ultimately he will bring success back to the club.

Big_Nige: I think with any appointment you have to give the manager time, Van Gaal has a philosophy that has worked at some of the biggest clubs in the world and clearly he is someone who is not overawed by the huge pressures that come with managing Man United. Following in the footsteps of arguably the greatest ever football manager was never going to be easy, and it’s something which David Moyes struggled with all last season. The fear facture Fergie built up over the decades fizzled out in a matter of months; Moyes seemed to give too much respect to the opposition and this is something that I can’t see Van Gall doing, but this might be his undoing, especially away from home. MK Dons for example. I can see Old Trafford becoming an absolute fortress again though. They’ll be teething problems with Van Gaal, but I do think he’ll get you back into the top 4 this season. Next season you’ll be challengers again.

Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general?

inckley fox: I immensely respected Ferguson and many of those who played for him but, on the other hand, resented much of their success. This was because (a) like most major forces in football they received a helping hand from the authorities (no penalties against at Old Trafford for, what, a decade?! or maybe it just seemed like that to me...) and (b) I had to endure plenty of schoolmates declaring themselves Man Utd fans, or Liverpool fans, or Spurs fans, and got fed up of seeing them looking smug on a Monday morning! These days, more than anything, I'm grateful for the positive links between the two clubs.

Weller in Tights: Can't stand them. The 'humour' of their self deprecating songs? BORING, NOT FUNNY.
Attractive football? No not since the late 60's.
The violence against ordinary supporters back in the 70's - Man Utd fans were notorious for that. (Especially the Cockney Reds)

But mainly because they pull support from all over the country from 'Glory Supporters'
I have been a teacher in Leicester for 30 years. I have ran school teams all that time, I have banned kids turning up in anything but their school kit, Leicester or England kit. I have recently allowed them to wear non-English team kits, after all kids are kids and they all get Barca/Real Madrid or Brazil kits etc for Christmas.
Reason -when I first started running teams I couldn't believe kids turning up in Man Utd, Liverpool or Arsenal kits ( but mainly Man Utd). "I've supported them all my life" they would say. "YOURE ONLY 11" would be my reply, "AND YOU ARE FROM LEICESTER YOU GLORY SUPPORTER".

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: A mix of respect and repulse. No one can deny your outstanding silverware collection and years of domination but with it has brought an ugly sense of entitlement in certain fan sections, and a massive gathering of plastic fans. Not the teams fault though.

Collymore: They have grown on me as I use to hate them 10-15 years a go. I think the recent tough time has sivved out all those shit fans in for the glory that sent most other fans crazy. The real Utd supporters always come across very knowledgeable and amicable.

cjslcfc: Until the start of university three years ago I didn't really care too much about United. I enjoyed watching them sometimes and at others Ferguson, despite his obvious talent as a manager, would piss me off. However, some of my best mates from uni are Utd fans so I have a much better idea of what United fans other than the plastics and tourists are like. Some of them follow United pretty much everywhere as well. So I had fun last year winding them up. Conclusion is that some are great, some are good and some are truly awful. It's interesting to see how some cope now you've not been winning!

Callabinho: Having spent three years living in Salford, It's hard not to pay attention, got some good friends who'm are united season ticket holders. Can't turn your nose up at what they've achieved, greatest British football club ever.

Big_Nige: As a 31 year old my footballing life has been dominated by Man Utd winning titles and trophies. Growing up I’m happy to admit I couldn’t stand you but success breeds contempt. I remember as a lad Paul Ince scoring against us, probably around 95, to wrap up a 4-0 win at Filbert Street. His celebration was one of pure arrogance. Just stood still right infront of the Leicester fans with his arms in the air. That celebration more than anything summed up what I thought about Man Utd, classless, arrogant wankers. But if I’m honest, now I have the upmost respect for what Ferguson achieved, As fans (proper fans, not the ones from all over England who base their opinions on Sky TV and the Sun) I’ve always found you knowledgeable and respectful, I do hope you continue your long traditional youth policy. Please don’t turn into a City or Chelsea. James Wilson shouldn’t have his route blocked to the first team, unless you want to sell him to your feeder club. He’ll fit in here nicely.

Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season?

Vlad the Fox: Man Utd maybe 4th or 5th. Can see us doing well and surprising a few teams and winning the league. But if bad reffing and freak results unsettle us I can see a top half finish, maybe 9th or 10th.

ADK: Manchester Utd probably just about get into Europa, would be surprised to see a top 4 finish. Leicester finish 8th-14th.

Deucalion: I think United are in a transitional period following Ferguson's retirement and it might take them more than this season for someone else to stamp their authority on the club, so about 8th. I don't think Leicester will be far behind.

inckley fox: You'll be up there, but I'm still unconvinced by the defence and think the star men will struggle to gel. Maybe 3rd? As for Leicester, anything from 8th-20th is possible. But there's been some early promise, and with a little luck we could easily make 14th or 15th.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: Manchester United... Somewhere between 3rd and 5th. Leicester... After seeing us up our game encouragingly even with our early injury problems, I'd say we'll almost certainly be safe but midtable wouldn't surprise me

cjslcfc: Without the burden of European football I think you could do what Liverpool did last season, especially with the attacking players at your disposal. I expect you will come 3rd or 4th as I think Chelsea and City are by far the two best sides in the league. Arsenal have been very sluggish and look like they lack that lethal touch you need. Liverpool will struggle to retain Champs League place in my opinion.

Big_Nige: Man Utd will be in a 3 horse race with Liverpool and Arsenal for 3rd and 4th. Will be tight to call but I think without the ‘distraction’ of The Champions League you can pip one of them to the top 4.

Leicester, we’ve settled in to prem life quite nicely so far, but there’s a long way to go. I’ve been to every game so far and we’ve more than held our own against some very decent teams. I’d say we’ve got a good chance in finishing above at least West Brom, Burnley and QPR. I’d take 17th in a heartbeat, but I think we can finish as high as 13th.

Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides?

Vlad the Fox:
Not just Ulloa, the team as a great work ethic, are organised and now exactly what is expected of them but don't think that we're just a team of grafters as there is genuine quality in the team such as Drinkwater, James, Moore, Vardy who will have long premier league careers

Deucalion: Ulloa has had a great start, and for me that is worrying. He has scored 3 of our 4 goals so far and we cannot afford to be too dependant on one player. I hope someone else starts to score soon too.

inckley fox: I think those sides will have men who hit 3 in 4 or 5 games at some stage in the season. Unless other players in our side start to find goals, we'll have problems. But there's time for that.

Weller in Tights: ULLOA is going to be important, but there are many others who will step up, watch out for Morgan and Moore ( great defenders) and Drinkwater, Mahrez and Vardy to name a few.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: No, we were far better than Burnley and QPR last season without Ulloa and besides Dyer we haven't lost any of our main squad, only added to it. He's looking very promising for us and likely to score a hatful but even without him I think we'd finish above the other 2.

Collymore: He's been a phenomenon. As I dont live in Leicester I get to speak to many fans around the country who are all raving about him.

cjslcfc: Will they be the difference between us and other promoted sides? No, we were already miles better than QPR and a bit better than Burnley without him. Could they propel us to a decent finish? Yes. The thing is I don't think we will be reliant on them if that's what you are suggesting. Although Nugent is nowhere near as prolific in this league, I think Vardy (who has featured very little so far) and Wood will chip in with goals, as well as midfielders such as Drinkwater and King. It's all about the team effort really though. We just seem to have that guy who can finish more ruthlessly than our current strikers do.

Callabinho: Definitely, had he come to England sooner he would possibly be at a more prestigious club. His finishing ability is right up their with the best, and his work rate second to none, I admit we need more goals from the team as a whole but, once we've found our feet I'm confident we will do just that.

Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer?

Deucalion:
One strength of Nigel Pearson and his team is the research they put into their transfer dealings. They have signed some unknown gems and given a chance to other players who are considered past it or failures. Signings rarely go wrong for Pearson so I'm sure all will play their part this season, so yes, I am happy with our dealings.

inckley fox: Yes, but I'd have liked to have seen another up-and-coming centre back introduced to the squad, and it wouldn't have hurt if he was capable of filling in at left back. And I think the manager is still looking for another 'number nine' striker.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: Yes. Ulloa has practically paid for himself already, we needed another winger and Albrighton might be really good for us, Upson has experience, and Cambiasso is Cambiasso. Class signing. Hamer looked good against stoke too

Collymore: I don't think we got all of our targets but Cambiasso will be class and Ulloa’s looks steal of the century.

cjslcfc: In my eyes the window was almost ideal. We got the midfield competition we need, whilst adding a class act in Cambiasso. We have added Ulloa to the ranks, who has started off on fire and is a great striker to complement our other options. We got some talented squad players in Lawrence, Powell and Simpson. I would maybe have liked some more defensive cover but Upson is still to come back and Schlupp can cover LB if needs be. I'd be surprised if any Leicester fan was disappointed with the window. Although some were panicking!!!

EnglishOxide: Yep. Upson was an unnecessary signing as is Powell although thankfully on loan. I don't see how either of them are going to get on the pitch seeing as we're are out of the league cup already.

kingcarr21: Yes. Ulloa was a gamble in the fans eyes but clearly the scouting team and Pearson did there homework and recognised where we were lacking up front. He has already paid back his transfer fee. Just a shame Upson is injured cause he was a good bit of business. Albrighton aswel was a good move. Cambiasso was the big signing for me. What a statement of intent that put out.

Big_Nige: Yes, very. We have 2 players for every position and no evident weak links. Or at least from what I have seen so far. I’m excited about seeing Cambiasso hopefully start on Sunday; he looked a class above against Stoke. He was 5 seconds ahead of everyone on the pitch. Ulloa is what we have been crying out for upfront and in terms of different striking options we now have the set. Tom Lawrence is an interesting one and I’m surprised we managed to get him on a permanent.

Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why?

Vlad the Fox:
Powell on a permanent deal. From what I've seen and read he seems he could have a great future ahead of him and would fit into the system we play.

ADK: Don't actually know that many, Welbeck? I think we've got most of the decent ones.

Wookie: Pogba, that was a mistake on your part.

Miquel The Work Geordie: Paul Pogba all day every bloody day.

inckley fox: There are so many United academy graduates going round that I don't know who is and who isn't one! I always sort of wished we'd nicked Robbie Brady off Hull.

Weller in Tights: Sorry, you are just a feeder club to us, I don't follow you're youth team, I let the coaching staff do that.

kingcarr21: Lingaard was awful when he played for us but has looked better whenever ive seen him play. Maybe worth another chance. Keane played ok for us but was poor at Derby. So would steer more towards Lingaard.

Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about?

Vlad the Fox:
Started like an express train but injury put him out the team for a while and he's struggled to recapture his form since. Though you need to remember he is young however me he needs to work on his game a bit more, close control could be improved.

ADK: He's a good finisher and imo intelligent. He lacks pace, agility and is not as good in the air as you might expect for his height. Basically plays the same position as Ulloa but isn't as good.

lestajig: He is a good squad player for us, but the stats speak for them self last season,

Wookie: All round play is pretty poor, he's a poacher trapped in a target man's body.

Deucalion: Chris Wood is a good player but he isn't proven at Premier League level. It has to be remembered he is only in his early 20s though, and may yet do so. The best thing for Wood is a loan deal to keep him fit and playing as I think his first team starts will be limited this season.

inckley fox: He hasn't learned to make use of his physique. He's not aggressive enough and doesn't do enough in the air. And, on top of that, he seems to waste his opportunity every time he's thrown into a starting line-up. But he's not far off being a decent player.

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: He had an amazing honeymoon period with us where he just seemed to bang the goals in left right and centre. Fell off the boil following a minor injury or two and never seemed quite as good since. Mind you with Vardy and Nugent being so effective last season and Kevin Phillips being a really great sub it was always going to be tough for him to find his way back into the side. He's proved against Everton he's still got a role to play though and if he plays well when given the chance then he might play a bigger role

Collymore: Yeah he plays for New Zealand pal, I'd get a game for them! He's one of those players who is always waiting to burst onto the scene, before you know it, he's retired! I think Keyv Phillips will have a positive impact on him though... Watch this space.

cjslcfc: As someone else eloquently put it, he is a poacher trapped in a target man's body. If he had pace he would really be a very good striker. He isn't too great in the air and doesn't hold the ball up that well. But the boy can finish and strike a ball. We do forget he is still only 22 though. Lots of improvement in him with the experience of the league.

Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners?

Vlad the Fox:
Very happy with our owners. They are running the club superbly investing heavily throughout the club and putting everything in place for the management team, (right up from the academy to first team) to do their job. They don't interfere with the playing side and aren't crazy. The top 5 quote was miss represented by the media though they have genuine ambition to progress the club, which will hopefully see off what happens to a lot of clubs in that after a few years they go stale and then eventually decline. I don't think the club has been better run in all my years of following City.

ADK: If we can make the most of our academy's status and expand the fanbase (we're a 1 club city with quite high population) it might be possible (Everton managed a 5th and we could grow to that size imo). Owners have been 10/10.

Wookie: Delighted, learnt from their infrequent mistakes.

Deucalion: The comments reported in the English press were mistranslated from the Thai press. Our owners, apart from a period of being sucked in by cheque happy Sven, have seemed very level headed and have made some great decisions in regards to the club. Many were concerned about the debts ran up in the Sven period. The owners saw the error of their ways, appointed prudent manager Pearson to ensure we would comply with financial fair play and then converted the debts of the club into equity. They have also developed the training ground, set up a level one academy and purchased the ground so we no longer have to pay a mortgage on it. They have always respected the traditions of the club and their motives for buying the club are for long-term marketing of their brand King Power rather than to make a quick buck.

If Carlsburg made owners...they would make the Svivaddhanapprabas. Try saying that after a few pints !!

inckley fox: They're decent, it seems. I'd be surprised if we troubled the top five in the next five years but beyond that you never know. Look where Man City were 15 or so years ago!

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo: Love the owners completely. They've helped us out loads but responsibly, they stuck with Pearson through the rough patch, they don't want to mess with our traditions and are happy to stay out of the limelight. Can't see us being a top 5 team anytime soon but under MON we had some good top-half finishes and I'd love to see that happen again

cjslcfc: If everything at the club keeps progressing as it has done then some time in the future we could be up there. I more concerned about making sure we stay in the League and don't let all the hard work slip though. We need to keep Pearson and continue to build the youth setup and senior squad as we have done over recent years. One step at a time please.

Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us?

ADK: Difficult to say, we usually play a non-rigid 4-4-2(or 4-4-1-1) but used 4-5-1 to good effect in the 2nd half against Stoke. Only Pearson and the coaching team know who is 100% fit so I'd trust whatever team we put our to be our best. It would be fun to see Cambiasso against Di Maria.

Deucalion: Even though we have had some good results with 4-4-2, I personally would feel more assured with 3 in central midfield, therefore:

Schmeichel

De Laet Moore Morgan Konchesky

Drinkwater Cambiasso James

Mahrez Vardy

Ulloa

inckley fox: Schmeichel; Simpson, Moore, Morgan, Schlupp; Albrighton, Cambiasso, Drinkwater, James, Mahrez; Ulloa. But, in truth, the likes of De Laet, Konchesky and Hammond have done more than enough to deserve their place in the side, while the likes of Schlupp, Simpson, Albrighton, Vardy, James etc. probably haven't.

Big_Nige: I think Nigel’s team selection and formation choice in this particular game will be very interesting. The back 4 picks itself. Hopefully Schmeichel will be fit but Ben Hamer and his beard proved reliable last week. It’s how we play the 6 in front which will go a long way to show Leicester’s mentality, especially at home, this season.

I’d like to see a midfield 3 of Hammond (James when fit) sitting behind Drinkwater and Cambiasso. Ulloa upfront with Mahrez (right) and Vardy (left) cutting in and allowing the full backs to bomb on. The attacking potential of that team is amazing (at least for a Leicester fan)

However if Pearson is pragmatic in his approach it’ll be 4-4-1-1.Schlupp on the left to help out Konchesky, with two of Hammond, Drinkwater and Cambiasso in midfield. Nugent will play as a deep lying striker, probably sitting on Blind and not letting him play.

Both have their merits but I’d love to see a 4-3-3 and take the game to you, rather than tailor our approach to stop you. It just depends on how brave we are. One things for sure, whatever formation we do play we won’t be sitting off you like QPR. We’ll be running ourselves into the ground and giving you no time and space.

Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match?

ADK:
1-1. We've drawn our first two home games against Everton and Arsenal and there's no reason we can't get another result.

Deucalion: Like against Arsenal and others, we will spend time under pressure. We are very strong at the back however and fancy us to limit your chances while a goal or two on the break will see the 3 points stay in Leicester. Leicester 2 1 United.

You didn't expect me to bet against my team did you?

cjslcfc: Got a bad feeling myself. You'll be flying after last match and we have a poor record vs. United from what I can remember. I'll go for 1-2 but really honestly think we can nab a draw if we turn up and put you under pressure.

EnglishOxide: 3-3

We should offer much more than QPR but Di Maria ****ing scares me. That guy is class. I think we will go 4-4-2 and play our game at home and it will be a good match. Vardy, Schluup and Mahrez could potentially destroy your defence if you play 3 at the back. Blackett in particular.

We could play 5 across the middle and put Cambiasso in front of the defence to make it a dull and scrappy affair but we will see.

I was much more confident a few weeks ago before your big names came in. Realistically ill just be happy if we don't get smashed like QPR.

kingcarr21: Now i know Man Utd are a great side regardless of the poor start. But at home i truly believe we can beat anyone in the prem. Our team fights to the death so Man Utd will need to up there game cause even though you won 4-0 to QPR it was a walk in the park for you. If you underestimate us we will punish you. If we play to our best theres no reason we cant take at least a point. Im confident we will sneak a 2-1 win.

the good thing is though if we do lose then its to be expected against the strike force you possess so i wont be too disappointed. Aslong as we put up a good fight and make you work for the 3 points i can accept that. Pundits are finally starting to take notice of us and i would love nothing more than to put Man Utd to the sword.

Good luck for the season and i hope its a good game on sunday

Someone said we'll finish 8th??

What has Moyes done to our club?

Nope....Worse then that, he said Leicester could finish 8th
Deucalion: I think United are in a transitional period following Ferguson's retirement and it might take them more than this season for someone else to stamp their authority on the club, so about 8th. I don't think Leicester will be far behind.

I quite like 'Ask the Opposition' as it's a nice reminder of just how sane this place is compared to others.

You just know that Weller in Tights made up that entire story and gets bullied by his students at school. Whopper.

A few hideous predictions aside, the majority quoted seem like a nice bunch.

Weller in Tights, bloody hell. Other than that and the nutter saying we'll finish 8th, pretty sensible. I do like Leicester, they've had a good start for a newly promoted team and they seem a well run club. Hope we smash them tomorrow but good luck to them for the rest of the season.

8th? I can't take that seriously. Surely anyone without an agenda against the club can see we have far, far too much quality to finish below 7th? Just as even Everton and Spurs fecking do.

As I type this, I realise a large portion of 'neutrals' probably have an agenda against the club.

I have been a teacher in Leicester for 30 years. I have ran school teams all that time, I have banned kids turning up in anything but their school kit, Leicester or England kit.
He sounds like a right laugh, this bloke.

It's a small time Leicester fan, and there are lots of them. It's no real suprise. a few Argentina chants tomorrow and they'll be spewing into their St George caps.

One more time for good measure.

I don't think Leicester are a bad team but feck, finishing only a place or two behind United? I don't agree with that at all, that's RAWK-level delusion. They look a solid unit though and a win there tomorrow will be very, very difficult.

No one would predict that we'd finish 8th.

I refuse to believe it until I see it in black and white.

All these ask these opposition things end up being the same.

Their fans bitterly hate us, overrate their team, and expect us to finish midtable. :boring:

As for the answers, most of them seem reasonable. Can't fault Leicester fans for feeling optimistic but 8th for us is a bit much.

Going to be very very difficult tomorrow. Even Chelsea found it difficult to beat them.

It won't be "very very difficult". Playing Real Madrid or Bayern Munich away is "very very difficult". We just need to not defend like dicks. Di Maria and the rest will do the business the other end.

You missed out:

Eddy Kellys Heroes: Fcvk off you manc tw@t

Webbo: be fair, it's not likely he's from Manchester.
