Ashley Feckin Giles

He is as good a bowler as Monty and much the better batsman, also his experience will count
He is not as good a bowler, he is a containment bowler, not a wicket taker, if he was a fast bowler who cant bat he would be in the side

In test match cricket you need bowlers who can keep the run rate down, they will both play a part in the ashes tests but for this first match which will shape the whole series i think giles is the right choice

The sooner they get him on then the better cos this run rate needs slowing

It won't spin for a few days, he'll just get milked...

A good spin bowler would find something in a first day wicket, pace aint working, maybe just taking the pace off the ball would be enough

Well it can't get any worse

Maybe Collingwood, it worked against Sri Lanka, just taking the pace off, the batsmen need to hit it to get power, with pace they just need to nudge it

And you just know that if they lose the first test they will bring Vaughan back, they have messed up with Freddie as captain, he has to much on his plate

Flintoff's captain for the course of the series. Vaughan will hardly get a game in this series.

Ole > Vaughan

Vaughn won't be back for the second I don't think

But yeah, given that the likes of Atherton, Hussein and Vaughn all struggled with their batting form after being made captain, it's hard to see Flintoff both batting and bowling well as captain. So we've essentially blunted our most dangerous weapon.

They should have gone with Strauss, he actually did well with the bat when he was captain, Flintoff is expected to be our main wicket taker, a big run scorer AND captain

He's pretty rubbish. Doesn't spin the ball. We've had many spinners over the years who've been too scared to toss the ball up and give it some rip. Emburey, for example, was awful to watch. Very defensive.

Yes. I liked him too.

He's from Zimbabwe. His action was good and he didn't look like a pig.
