Perhaps he could have his knee looked at and any other problems.

United have to take advantage of this.

Its cold comfort. At a phsycological level it will have to damage Roy. Maybe it will make him more determined. But I don't think thats possible.

Its bad news for his carrer,

a player like Keane doesnt need a fuchin rest,
he needs to be playing on the biggest stage.

if roys feckin teamates can't lay off the drink
for a month then roy is right.i say feck em!
although i'll miss watching keeno play.

I Think We will see An Awesome Keano Next Season <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

I'm absolutely devastated for Roy. I thought this would be his world cup to silence the critics and to show he is up there with the best. Good luck to him, the rest could do him good.

A 23 hour flight with the world's press won't help his recovery -- and his back problem in particular.

Fergie as a manager will be well tested in this --keeping the press away and even Keano away from the press.

Best thing Fergie can do is talk some sense into McCarthy and get Keano back in the team!
Throw a few teacups or something maybe? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

there is hype hype hype hype and more hype to be published along with a little rogueish tabliod racism and nationalism - and thats on top of the queens piss-up party at next weekend

I hope he does take advantage of the break to get his knee sorted. it's obviously not right and he needs a few weeks to rest it. i agree that the psychological damage may be harmful but from a red point of view a fully fit Keano with a point to prove may not be a bad thing. I think SAF has a bit of work to do tho'in the short term.

Hmm...
How strange - I was about to say how gutted I am for Giggs for never being able to play in a World Cup and how happy I am for Keane...
So, will Wales qualify for Germany 2006 now?

The more I think about this, the more I think that is very bad for us. Remember Ronaldo in 98? Keane might not be Ronaldo, but he is known world wide as Man United Captain - think of the hanging effigies of Beckham. I know opinion in Ireland seems somewhat 50-50 split, but that's a lot of people very angry at him. I also think this will be terribly difficult for him to come to terms with and I think there might be some substance to the rumours of trouble at home, whether it be an affair who knows, but I'm very worried about his state of mind. I agree with something Red Pat said, he might be having a nervous breakdown. He doesn't know how to relax. He might come out of this a changed man, less fiery and committed - if he doesn't then he might burn out, if he hasn't already. This is going to be a real test for Alex - one that could not only make or break next season, but our long term supremacy too.

I doubt the opinions that this incident will be a benefit to United. No one know how deep will be the wound on Keano's heart, and how long it will take to heal that wound. It seems the result of the club this season has created a very big mental pressure on Keano and he finally exploded with the catalyst of "poor facilities, poor preparation" of the national team. No matter how, surely it is not ordinary to have said things such as "fecking wanker" to your manager. I'm sure Keano will feel regretted the whole thing after he cool down. Fergie, United teammates and all fans should get behind him, just like what we did for Beckham after WC98, and hope that he can overcome it and heal his wound as quickly as possible.

You're right, we going to need to get behind him enormously, although also in a way to get the pressure off him rather than heaping more on. After everything he has done for us, he deserves our total support. Every single one of us loves Roy Keane.
