I'll post 4 paintings, you name the artist. If you know the title, then name that as well.

3 easyish ones, & a slightly trickier painting for starters:

3. The Marriage of the Arnolfini by Jan van Eyck

3. The Marriage of the Arnolfini by Jan van Eyke
4. Self-portrait by Albrecht Durer

All correct! I thought the last one might catch a few out, but it wasn't to be.

Okay, someone else post a few.

Is the first one by a guy called Liechtenstein? There was a programme where they stuck a celebrities face into one of his pictures and they showed that one when going through some of his work.

1. Whaam!, George Michaelichtenstein
2. Pre-production concept painting, The Art of Pandora

C'mon Art who did that, it looks like Degas to me (it better not be you).

Haha, I actually did a pretty ok-ish replica of that in school. But thats Pierre Paul Prud'hon. Class act value and tone artist.

I haven't studied landscapes but the Rabbit is Durer's.

EDIT: Looked at the AD initials after recognizing the painting

1. is 'View near the Montbro Bridge' by Christen Kobke
2. is Dürer as the appropriately named 'Art' said.
3. is most likely Blake, but I have no idea what it's called.
4. is a bit shit

View near the Montbro Bridge - Christen Kobke
Young Hare - Albrecht Durer
Dante and Virgil at the Gates of Hell - William Blake
O’Connell Bridge - John Butler Yeats

This was a Rubens exclusive. His students worked on parts of his paintings like the drapery..etc. The important stuff like the fact and the hands was done by the great one himself. And depending on the amount of work Ruben himself put into the painting, the value varied. The more of Ruben's work, the more expensive the painting or the work. And credit was given to all of his students who worked on specific parts of the paintings. There are a lot of people who go on to slate Ruben saying that he had others work on his painting for him but the man was a genius in every way and one of my favourite artists.

Well, he was hardly the only artist to delegate minor work, so the criticism's a bit unfair, I'd say. :)

As a matter of fact, the students who studied in Rubens' atelier considered it an honor to work on the masters' paintings and drawings. Its the art commentaries of the current world that take criticism to insulting proportions.
