Arsenal v Liverpool

Does anyone on this forum think that Liverpool have a reasonable chance of beating Arsenal this weekend at Highbury?

Personally, I think Pool have no chance. I've stuck my money where my mouth is and have backed Arsenal to win at odds of 2.35.

This is the best Arsenal team I have seen in many a year. I'm not convinced that we're actually better than them. Henry + Kanu + Pires + Bergkamp + Ljungberg + Vieira + Ashley Cole + Wiltord = a team that has a frightening amount of attacking potential.

If Liverpool manage to beat Arse this weekend, then I'll change my opinion about the Gunners. But I think that's most unlikely, especially after Liverpool's less than memorable performance against Soton today.

I expect Arsenal to win, but then again I expected Liverpool to win yesterday. Anything can happen, particularly with Anelka going back to Highbury.

I can't wait to see the reaction to Nico taking the pitch, should he play. Would you start Nico at Highbury, or do you think the situation surrounding his return could put too much pressure on him? On the other hand, all the pressure would be on one player and not as much on the other ten.

Owen and Anelka are your two best strikers. Barring injuries or suspensions, I would start them in every match for the rest of the year. Litmanen is more effective in an attacking role and Heskey is more effective when he warms the bench. Can't comment on Baros as I haven't seen him in action for LFC.

Let's see if the patrons of the Library can get themselves excised a bit to chastize Nico for being a traitor.

Arsenal seems to do better on the road. Perhaps they concentrate better on the task at hand when away from London. At any rate, it is their home form that keeps the Gunners from having a substantial lead at the moment.

As far as 'Pool is concerned, without Owen:
You'll
Never
Win
Again.

You think so? I've paid some attention to the Gunners European campaign, and exactly the opposiste seems to be true. Hmmm.

Suedesi:

At all times we must differentiate between the Premier campaign, the FA Cup ties, and the CL/European expeditions. In the Premier League, Arsenal struggles at home and thrives on the road. In the CL, the opposite occurs. Perhaps (the theory has been advanced)this is because a substantial chunk of Arsenal's players are from abroad and can't figure out which CL matches are "home."

You'll change your opinion on the Arse if we win? How would you rate them then?

Not that we will win mind....

;)

Dear Davo

I rate Arsenal pretty highly. They are the best attacking team in the Premiership - better than Man Utd if truth be told. Henry, Kanu, Pires, Ljungberg, Vieira, Ashley Cole, and then Bergkamp and Wiltord coming on as subs - I'd say that's a pretty potent, tasty attacking force.

We're pretty good as well as an attacking team. The key difference will be in defence. Keown and Campbell seem to be striking up a good partnership. Laurent Blanc and Wes Brown - well maybe they are OK - who knows at this stage?.

I notice many people have trashed Sol Campbell since his move to Arsenal. I don't agree with those jokers. I've got a horrible feeling that Campbell will help Arsenal to win the League this year. He's getting stronger with every game, after a long injury spell. I have this feeling that Campbell is a genuinely world-class player just waiting to be unleashed in the right environment. Have a look at some of his torpedo tackles and gasp...

Laurent and Wes are OK of course...In Sol's class? - I doubt it.

manxmania, how can you say Arsenal's team is better than ours. We are surely better, we won the title last year, Arsenal haven't really improved their team:

Francis Jeffers (Everton) - £10m
G van Bronckhorst (Rangers) - £8.5m
Junichi Inamoto (Gamba Osaka) - Undisclosed
Richard Wright (Ipswich) - Undisclosed
Sol Campbell (Tottenham) - Free

I don't rate Sol Campbell, he is not world class and I was pleased that we didn't sign him.
I don't understand how you can say that they are better than United, Henry is world class and they struggle without him but people compare this Arsenal side to the one the won the premiership in 1997/98, I think this was better.
