Arsenal - lets hope the succed in The Champions League

Never thought I would say this, but I hope the Cockneys and old Arse winger have a good crack at the Champions League, fact is they are looking strong in the Prem, and a Champions League challenge as well as a premiership challenge could prove a step to far for our cockney friends, I dont think they will quite have it in them when it gets to the later stages to sustain both, a major skill of ours which has been overlooked for the past 6 years. My theory is that they will crumble with the high profile later stage European games all over Europe, as well increasing competion to retain the Premiership, as many sides now are all desperate to beat them.

Imagine this:

Winger and his French crew looking on as we lift up The Champions League Trophy @ Old Trafford, and they trot of with thier loosers medals, now that would go someway to matching the pain of the Arse winnin the Prem at Old Trafford last year.

I think they'll reach the knockout stages this season, and it'll depend on who they meet there as to how far they go - we were repeatedly knocked out by the eventual winner, as they might be too. Real are clear favourites, but Arsenal playing like that must also now be serious contenders.

like the 4-0 of Milan at Depor or the 5-0 of Lyon, or Juventus, or the 6-0 of Real...

I just don't put too much stock at stage 1 of CL.

Good point, first half of the season most teams are bedding in new players, second half we see which experiments have worked.

It's amazing how many Arsenal fans are sprouting up now. All of them claiming to have been "lifelong" fans

Given the increased number of English teams in the competition over the last number of years its been amazing that we have yet to have an all English tie in the competition. I've a feeling we are going to end up playing the Arse in the champions league at some stage this year. It could be the champions league equivalent of our FAC semi with them in 99. It could be the kind of tie that leads us to another....

Beating PSV 0-4 was not that great an achievement.
PSV had loads of players missing. Van Bommel was playing in C Defence! And still, if they'd taken their chances, they could have got something from the game. Arsenal scored twice at the end when PSV had given up.

Arsenal's bubble will soon burst.

Wishful thinking.......if anyone's bubble has burst,it's yours matey.Keane was right....you lot have been overtaken by us and the scousers, and as we are now clearly the best team in england we would have nothing to fear from being drawn against you in the CL.In fact,it would be appropriate, don't you think, for us to celebrate winning the CL at OT only a year after winning the title there !!

:D

Didn't you participate in this thread yesterday? First under the name R A Softlad and then under Gillespie who is a Arsenal fan. How many IDs have you got Softlad to stir things up here? Think it would be a decent idea to get rid of you.

I participated in different threads yesterday. As for R A Softlad....I've no idea who he is,but he seems to be a scouser.I'm a self confessed Gooner, and that's always been made clear by me.Generally,I try not to get into the 'yah boo sucks' type of debate here and there are quite a few reasonable people on here who don't always see things through rose coloured specs, but silly statements such as 'their bubble will burst soon is just wishful thinking....no less and no more .
