Striker prefers United over Arsenal

Arsenal are interested in signing target Arouna Kone from PSV Eindhoven.

The powerful striker from the Ivory Coast has openly admitted he would love to join Manchester United with the suggested fee reportedly around £4 million.

Despite Kone's preference for United, Arsenal have also been keeping tabs on the 23 year old player who has scored 15 goals in Holland this season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems likely to challenge any United bid with one of his own as he looks to improve his attacking options for next season.

For 4 million pound he will be a great signing

Kone targets United move

PSV Eindhoven striker Arouna Kone has a desire to play for Manchester United in the future.

The Ivory Coast attacker would like to follow the path trod by Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Park Ji-sung despite agreeing a deal with the Eredivisie side until 2010.

After being on loan from Roda JC, the option has been taken up to make the move a permanent one - which will formally happen on April 1.

With ten goals in 16 games for PSV, the African attacker is looking well worth the €9 million (£6.16 million) fee.

"It's my intention to play two more seasons at PSV and then make a move to Manchester United, my dream club," Kone told De Telegraaf.

"After three seasons, I hope to play another three years for Milan.

"Of course, I know that's very difficult.

"But impossible it isn't."

Choosing PSV as his destination seemed natural to a player who seems to have everything mapped out in his mind.

"For me, it was important that several players left the club for United," he added.

"Stam, van Nistelrooy, Park.

"The football, the shirt, the stadium.

"As a child, I was already loving Manchester United."

Its an old article by the way

At 4 mp he'd be a real bargain. very good player

you mean inconsistent form, right?

anyway, it's kind of premature to say he will stay for three seasons at united and move on from there.

Sign him, he is very much like Saha in the sense that he is powerful, athletic, pacy and can stretch defences. His finishing, however, is straight out Emile Heskey's textbook. I'm sure he will improve beyond belief were he to join us.He is highly rated at PSV and probably won't come for less than £10mil

would be ood seeing how he'd develop his finishing at odl trafford though
perhaps he'd be the perfect foil for THE louis saha? then a bargian at 5mp...

seen him live a few times, he's PSV's best player by a mile (Farfan is fecking rubbish- all pace and no bollocks or brain)

good player, great football brain. likes to drift off the front to the left and pick up the ball, great shot and excellent speed. would be a really good buy for four million.

Hes not great player for me. A useful addition perhaps, if he's willing to sit on the bench and be thankful for it. And also with the African nations cup coming up you can almost say that any player from a major African national side won't be utilised for half the season.

if he alows us to keep saha i say go for him !!!
i have always liked him as a player but his finishng let me down bare times man, yet he somehow still gets the goals... If we can improve his finsihing skills and turn him into a 20goal a season striker for us we;d be laughing in a Manchester wonder land...

Ivory Coast international Arouna Kone has joined Wigan on a three-year contract from Levante.

The deal to take the 28-year-old to the DW Stadium is reported to be worth €3.5million (£2.7m).

Kone passed a medical with the Latics on Tuesday before putting the finishing touches to a move.

The highly-rated frontman burst onto the scene during his time in Holland, with productive spells at Roda JC and PSV Eindhoven seeing him net at an impressive rate.

Skysports

Bit of a coup for Wigan. He was a beast last season.

Kone, Ramis and Miyaichi they've signed now. Think they will still struggle.

Was he at PSV a few years ago? I remember him playing amazing for 45 minutes and then getting a bad knee injury and ultimately ending any chance that PSV had that year of progressing in the Champions League.

Was it against Arsenal where Alex scored? Then... Liverpool?... I am not sure.
My memory serves up some random shite sometimes.

Yes, he was at Psv

A good talent few years ago. He decided to go to Sevilla and ruined his career.

Same Wigan basically. Can upset any team but will spend the entire season near the bottom.

Not if they carry there end of season form to the beginning this year, they were fantastic the last 10 games of the season.

No doubt will probably start extremely slow though.

He will be an adequate replacement for Rodallega. If they sell Moses to Chelsea they are going to need another forward though and it won't be easy to replace Moses, players like that usually don't go near the likes of Wigan.
