Watching this World Cup has really put the spotlight on this for me. Yes Mbappe can be seen as exciting but he’s really just about effectiveness and efficiency. Are there any genuinely exciting players full of flair and tricks and a personality to go with it? I’m thinking Ronaldinho or Zidane style. And yes I know they are some of the best ever and don’t expect to see players of that calibre and nature frequently but is there even anyone remotely as fun anymore?

Not really because they can’t press and ultimately that’s the only thing that seems to matter in football now.

Messi whilst he still plays. Not quite like Ronaldinho or Zizou but he's unique in his own way.

Mbappe, Messi, Foden, Musiala, Martinelli, Leao are just some names out of my head that have a lot of swagger and I enjoy watching.

Neymar is the most exciting player in world football

Jordan Henderson and James Milner?

Pickford... Waiting for the moment he starts screaming, jumps into the crowd and slaps a toddler across the face.

This. Any flair is coached out for the good of the system.

That so many people are saying Neymar is the most exciting says it all. He's nowhere near somebody like Ronaldinho.

The player you want is kind of obsolete at the top level, it's very much reigned in. Which is why the ones mentioned here are into their 30's.... system football is in now.

Neymar? What is exciting about player rolling on the grass half of the game?!

They’ve been made obsolete. There should still be space for them IMO. And no reason why such a player can’t work hard.

Agreed. Feel football has become boring because of that. Less about skill more about system.

Football has become very result and stat oriented. You can be exciting but of you don't "produce" then you won't get anywhere

There are plenty, but football has developed in a much more organized way where players are much more bound to their roles and tasks than before.. Its much more attack with 11, defend with 11.. At least for the top teams...

Grealish was an absolute joy to watch at Villa, but he is just another gear in the machine at City..

Antony…

watching Brazil this World Cup, he seems to be the one that tries the most tricks, but generally it’s all showboat rather than trying to beat an opponent.

Dembele, most exciting and frustrating at the same time.

What happened to the Zidane move? Been ages since I saw it.

Still execute this daily with great succes when I’m playing with my 2 year old.

Kepa - will be come off when subbed? Won't he? Find out next week on Dragonball Z!

Bellingham excites me more than anyone recently, maybe not a flair player but he’s almost world class already it’s scary.
