A year ago, it was treason to criticise said window. As maybe the only person who did at the time, I know. My opinions at the time are still the same, though:
Casemiro: Terrible signing. A midfielder who's terrible under pressure and plays constant Hollywood balls was not what our midfield needed. Especially as he was someone who needed press resistant teammates in order to not be a hindrance in possession; of which we had none. Then you factor in that what he is useful for requires him to be at his physical peak, and we signed him in his 30s where he's obviously slowing down.
Eriksen: Terrible signing. Even on a free. A stop gap midfielder who is also terrible under pressure and plays constant Hollywood balls should never have been an option. He's worse than Casemiro, though, as even though he's as loose in possession, he's absolutely useless out of possession.
Martinez: Good signing.
Malacia: I guess okay as a back-up, but other positions should've been prioritised over a LB.
Antony: Poor signing. As I said at the time, his physical limitations would be too problematic. Isn't that good at shielding the ball and keeping it in tight spaces, and can't dribble. Of course, I was told I had no clue as to what I was talking about...until people started about the exact things I was saying. Not a terrible player but a player who's style wasn't what we needed.
That was around £200m. Nearly everyone thought that was £200m was well spent at the time, but do they still?
