Man Utd defender Nemanja Vidic a £25m target for Anzhi Makhachkala - report
Crunch Sports Staff - 30 Aug 2011
Anzhi Makhachkala are ready to launch a £25million bid for Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic.
Reports at the weekend had suggested that the big spending Russian outfit were considering a bid for Vidic following last week's £20million capture of Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o from Inter Milan.
And with just two days left before the transfer window closes, a top Russian source has told The Sun that a bid for the Serbia international is "imminent".
29-year-old Vidic has been linked with Juventus and Real Madrid during the summer and although his agent recently ruled out a move to Juve, he failed to completely rule out a move away from Old Trafford.
The centre-back is thought to be happy at United, but reports over the past 48 hours have suggested Anzhi are ready to offer him in the region of £200,000-a-week to return to Russia.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who paid Spartak Moscow £7m to sign Vidic in 2006, is highly unlikely to want to sell his skipper.
But it is thought that Anzhi will still look to test United's resolve before Wednesday night's transfer deadline.
