Hi,
I will be landing in Athens from Santorini on the 13th of March 2016. I will be in athens for 5 days.
The Olympiacos Vs Panathanaikos match is on the 13th(date and time are not sorted yet).
Can I buy tickets online when they are selling them? I checked the Olympiacos website and tried to buy a ticket for an upcoming match. The site said that I need an AMKA number(some sort of social security number) for buying tickets.
What are my alternatives? Any suggestions?
If this match is not possible, I don't mind trying the AEK match on the same day.
Can I expect to find tickets at the stadium venue itself?
Also, is the date time of the match dependent on the Europa matches?
Regards,
Raj

Yeah last time i went they asked for AMKA but because the match wasn't really important they skipped the AMKA. But i would guess there would be different rules for foreigners. Maybe your id would be enough.
As for the olympiakos game because its the biggest game for them it would be a big risk to expect to find tickets few hours before the game. For AEK you will definetely find tickets in the venue that day. I ll try to check and find more information as soon as possible :)

Thanks a lot.
I do expect the Olympiacos game to be tougher to get tickets for, and if I can't get tickets for that match, I will settle for the AEK ones.
But, for the main game, the chances of getting tickets at the stadium are very low, right? OK, so I will try to score something online. Will try and register on the website and then see what they offer. I guess I will be bothering you soon.
Also, is it worth doing a stadium tour for one of the three clubs? If yes, then which one is the best? I don't have any allegiance towards any team and I know I will only be able to do one stadium tour. Any recommendations?

Ok i have more information now and for Olympiakos you need a fan card and it costs 10 euros extra, you can get it from here I think https://buy.tickethour.com/osfp-www/accountRegister.html
This card is needed at least until now only for Olympiakos. In other games you need AMKA but as I told you for foreigners I m sure there are different rules.
For Olympiakos game you have to go at the stadium but days before the game not the same day. They prioritize this way than the online purchase for tickets. It is possible to buy tickets online but really more difficult especially for the biggest game of the year. For AEK's game just go a few hours before the kick off and you wont have any problems.

About the tour now. I have never done any of them BUT AEK dont own a stadium now and they are playing at the National Stadium so nowhere to go for touring. The best combination would be Olympiakos game and tour before.

My suggestion would be: a)try your best for Olympiakos game
b) if you like basket on 19/3 AEK is playing against Olympiakos so it would be a great atmosphere. If you are still in Athens you can try this one instead of AEK's football game against Panthrakikos.
c) AEK's game with Panthrakikos it would be I guess the most accessible and the cheapest too. But it would be also the worst concerning the atmosphere.

Anyway, why you are visiting Greece so soon the weather wont be that good by March :P If have any more info I ll let you know!

Guys,
Thanks for your help.
I casually went to the stadium on gameday.
Bought two tickets from a season ticket holder. There were tickets available from the ticket office too, it needed me to buy membership, so I bought it from someone else.
Was a good experience. No Panathanaikos fans were allowed in for the game.

Where all did you go finally? And did you get a slap for watching football on your honeymoon?

Athens and Santorini.
I had not planned for us to watch it.
We had just reached Athens from Santorini on the 13th afternoon. So we had no plans for that evening. We just intended to chill.
I just suggested going around the stadium and checking out the atmosphere. My sweet wife said, she will be cool with going in at watching. I could not say no to that!!
So yeah, din't get any stick for watching the match. She got bored around the 60th minute though.

Fair play to her if she stuck it out that long. How was the atmosphere? Smoking , drinking allowed inside? Standing or seated?
