David Beckham. The World’s most recognisable footballer. Captain of England and the finest midfielder the country has produced in many a year. Yet four years ago he was public enemy number one as the nation blamed him for England’s 1998 World Cup exit. With their opening game of the 2002 tournament this weekend and a rematch with Argentina just days away, England's World Cup hopes rest firmly on Beckham's shoulders. How things have changed...

Cheeky git ;)
Well I don't feel the "need" to support England but to be honest (and I'll be feathered and tarred by my fellow irishman for this) I usually like to see England do well - particularly the United players obviously.

However, by the second half of Sunday's game I was 100% behind Sweden because of the typical cocky arrogant English *bs*, particularly from one Fat Ron: "we're a million times better than Sweden", "only 1 or 2 of the swedish players would get in the england team", "we're the greatest team in the world blah blah blah" etc etc....

pissed me off and I was well chuffed to see all the English gutted after the final whistle!

Does that answer your question then? ;)
