TribalFootball:
Roma have rejected an offer from Manchester United for left fullback Vincent Candela.
United were prepared to offer £13.5 million for the French international and had also discussed the possibility of a swap involving Mikael Silvestre.

However, according to Italian media reports, Roma trainer Fabio Capello rejected the offer, insisting Candela was a crucial part of his new season plans.

Do you get the feeling that Silvestre won't be our first choice left back next season?

A tribalfootball article with no quotes...leads me to believe that Silvestre is defintely on his way out. ;)

I'm more going by the sheer number of left backs we've been linked to - more than central defenders now I think.

True, though how many players that we're linked to in the press actually arrive at the club. A very small percentage. The only player who we've been linked to in the past 12 months and have signed is Blanc.

I know its all crap but I would not see the point of signing a player who is not as pacey as MK and is past his best (as shown in the WC). Not for £13.5 anyway. He must be looking for an improved offer, like half of Europe, judging by the amount of players now getting linked to us

With all due respect, the amount of links we have for players in center position means 'the world' thinks we need players in those position.

Doesn't mean the manager does.

A tribalfootball article leads me to laugh ;)

On a more serious note. Silvestre's still not happy. He hasn't got the new contract he wanted yet. And his agent mentioned, before the world cup, had he not got one soon, he may have to look elsewhere article - 11th June. Silvestre also wants to play CB.

Unless we get our act together, we may find some truth in this article yet...

I was on the a football website and i read that Roberto carlos could too be on his way to The club because he said he wants to play in england and see the pace and flair of the game.

I have only watched Candela for a few times but I'm not very satisified with what I saw. Not a bad player, but surely not the same class as Thuram or Lizarazu at their peak. I hope we can keep Micky in the team who is younger, quicker and have more room to improve.

A tribalfootball artical leads me to believe Candela definitely WILL NOT be playing at OT next season, unless we draw Roma in the CL... ;)
