Andy still harping on about it. Or at least, The Sun have sensationalised it again.

Anyone ever heard Teddy's take on it?

What reportedly happened? Training ground spat right?

DId Andy come on for Teddy or something? Teddy didn't shake his hand apparently.

Teddy didn't shake his hand when he was subbed for Cole on Coles England debute. Or something silly like that.

Andy Cole always struck me as being ridiculously touchy. Sheringham was probably wrapped up in his own disappointment at being taken off and didn't even think of Cole, it's ridiculous to make a vendetta out of it.

I have to say though that it was quite ignorant of Teddy I think.

Not good I agree. However, it's quite a regular occurance.

Not acknowledging Cole might be more to do with Sheringhams dissapointment being subbed rather than anything against Cole.

If we look at them as role models for children then you have to say it's beyond ridiculous.

Having not heard Teddy's version, I'd have to make excuses for him - extreme disappointment/annoyance at being taken off maybe. He still should have shaken hands but is it really worth going on about 15 years later.

I'm sure we've all suddenly realised that we hadn't done something we should have for whatever reason.

True, Andy should just let it go. I mean it is 15 years later so of course get over it now. But I can totally understand why he was angry with him in the first place. You're making your debut for your country, you're waiting your chance. The player coming off, no matter how disappointed he is at being subbed, should shake the hand or at least acknowledge the player coming on (especially if he's making his debut). The fact it was beamed around the world, I'm sure Andy felt embarrassed.

I'll probably agree with this. Even though it was a shitty thing to do from Teddy, is it still worth going on about decades later?

Maybe Andy went a bit OTT but I'm with Cole on this one.

For an experienced pro like Teddy to blank a guy making his international debut is shocking. Not surprised that Cole felt slapped in the face.

It doesn't sound like Teddy ever tried to apologise or find out what he did to annoy Cole so I'm sure the feeling was mutual and he didn't actually like Andy or want to be best buddies with him. Which is fine, I don't think anyone gets along with everyone where they work.

I'd like to know if Teddy ever did apologise and what his attitude was to Andy at United.

We've never heard Teddy's version.

What you basing that on? Having met the man I would have to disagree with you entirely.

Same here.

I was outside Southampton FC when Andy Cole just ignored all the supporters there. Not even a smile or a wave. Others were actually signing autographs.

Does that make him less of a twat of a man?

He used to be out in the clubs where I live a fair bit and I had the misfortune of being barged past in a taxi queue by him saying the immortal words "do you know who I am" to the taxi driver. Plus a girl I worked with said he was a right smug twat when he tried it on with her, talking about how rich he was and how he only slept with models so she should be flattered at his interest.

Admittedly not the worst things a person can do but it's left a pretty bad impression of him in my eyes.

Hm fair enough I guess. I used to work at a golf club he frequented and he was a great bloke to play 18 holes with, chatty, friendly and down to earth in my experience.

It's a sad state of affairs really. Fair enough I'd be pissed off if a player didn't shake my hand as they left the pitch but at the end of the day to bring it up again fifteen years later is a bit childish and pointless from Cole. Needs to move to and forget about it.

As for Sheringham, I can only presume he hasn't apologised else Cole wouldn't be as he is to this day. Lacking a bit of class there Teddy. Both of 'em need to grow up.

Hmm, he did the same with me. I was over in Manchester in 1995, and went to The Cliff training ground. Andy didn't sign any autographs for anybody, he got in his car and drove right off. The best that day was King Eric, he was amazing.

Teddy's a bit of a tosser though is he not?

Maybe he and Teddy are both tossers in their own way then.

I did hope that AC was having an off day, but your experience, and others I've read about, seem to imply that he's just a miserable, unsociable git.

Livvie hating on Andy Cole. Now I've seen everything :D

Rooney didnt shake Alan Smiths hand when Rooney came off before half time against Spain a few years ago. Im sure Smudger was over it (i think he laughed when he came on)

I think its a silly thing to hold a grudge over. Saying that, the fact they managed to put that aside and still play well together says a lot as well.

I loved Coley, but it's a ridiculous thing to still hold a grudge over...it's nice that he felt playing for his country was so special though, but it's still hugely OTT to be angry about it now

I agree. But Teddy didn't exactly do anything to resolve matters. Or so it appears to be the case.

Teddy's always seemed like a pretty self involved numpty to be honest...not that I know him though. You'd think one of them would try and say "come on, this is silly", or someone else in the squad would tell them how ridiculous it was to never talk to each other. I get why Coley didn't like what Teddy did, but to "hate" someone for it?...bit much

Still, Cole > Teddy for me.

He's a cock. I've seen him drive up and down Deansgate in his Ferrari looking like a right smug cnut. I've never liked him to be honest.

He was with Jordan for ages wasn't he? Never mentions her though - and she, surprisingly, doesn't mention him either.
