Why is it that every young argentina starlet about to leave for european shores is entitled the new maradona, eg aimar, saviola, riquelme etc. I dont doubt d'alessandro's skill and creativity, i have seen him play for river a rew times and he was spectacular with his first touches and distribution especially to the flanks (would suit uinted style of play) but this new maradona tag scares me as non of the one's that have come over have ever lived up to it, especially aimar, the jurys out on saviola.

Also big positive with d'alessandro, we would not have to worry about a work permit, he is half italian aka has an italian passport (umh umh <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> ) no its legit.

A player for two seasons time, united should arrange an agreement to bring him then, before juve or more likely lazio snap him up, will be a star of the future, new maradona, no but rather the first Andres D'Alessandro.

Immense talent...would be great if he did end up with us & earned the elusive & much abused tag

Juve battle Man United for D'Alessandro

Juventus and Manchester United are shaping up for a fight to sign River Plate's Argentine prodigy Andres D'Alessandro.
Reports it Italy's Corriere Dello Sport claim that D'Alessandro's agent has been in touch with United management to discuss a possible move.

Juventus has been tracking the young sensation for several months but negotiations have stalled in recent weeks.

To be honest, I have seen D'Alessandro play a few times and he does not really impress me at all. He dips in and out of games inconsistantly imo. I am sure he is a great player in his own right, but I don't see him as quick enough to live up to the pace of the Premiership - but time is on his side and if I see more of him I'm sure I would see why everybody rates him so highly.
But I doubt Ferguson has even looked at him atm. United's midfield is filled to the rafters and it if a deal was to happen it could stand in the way of the players coming thru the ranks (i.e. Richardson and Timm etc). Probably costly as well (within the 10-20 million range I'm sure).
I agree with Raoul tho, most probably tabloid trash.

ALso probably tabloid stuff but Soccernet claim Leeds (The ones with no money ;) ) are going to pay 9 million for him...If they can get rid of someone else first I presume.
9 million seems reasonable enough though. If it is true we should be interested.
