Manchester United hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged his former club to sign FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius, who he believes has the ability to go “as far as he wants.”
Cornelius, 19, signed for Copenhagen in April this year and has enjoyed a remarkable start to life as a professional footballer, scoring 10 goals in his first 11 appearances, and has already been awarded his first cap for Denmark.
The teenager scored his first European goal on Thursday against Solskjaer’s Molde in the Europa League, and the former United striker is clearly impressed with what he saw from the talented striker, going as far as claiming he has all the right attributes to succeed at Old Trafford.
“Yes, he’s definitely an option (for United),” Solskjaer said. “He has the qualities to play at the top level if he continues his development.
“He has speed, he has art. And I think he is very good in the air. He can go as far as he possibly wants.”
If anyone is qualified enough to know what it takes to become a successful United striker, it’s Solskjaer.
During his nine years at Old Trafford, the Norwegian scored 126 goals and linked up with a host of top-quality forwards including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, and Teddy Sheringham.
