Film American Psycho remake

he looks the part for sure!

interested to see what they do with it

Hollywood was never really creative but this trend of making remakes of already successful and popular movies is peak sloth.

A new film adaptation seems pointless, given how good the Christian Bale version was. I’d be more interested in seeing a prestige TV series about Patrick Bateman which just uses the novel as a starting point/inspiration.

I'd like to see the Shawshank Redemption with Mark Whalberg and Dwayne Johnson.

Austin Butler is a really good casting for that role and the combination of him and Luca Guadagnino makes this an interesting project. I really liked the original version but there’s potential for a much more gory version that’s closer to the book. The Christian Bale one was essentially a PG-13 version of the book.

Pointless given how good the original is. Its like trying to remake Psycho.

Guadagnino's a fine director to be fair.

I would recommend the book.

Never liked the Bale version that much.

Neither did I. I thought Bale himself did a decent job, but the film felt very much like they'd lifted the pieces from the book they liked, without really getting the uniqueness of BEE's novel. I find Guadagnino to be a great director, and he showed with his remake of Suspiria he can actually understand source material while appropriating it and giving his own vision (and isn't afraid of getting blood out there!), and Butler is potentially a great choice, so I'm moderately excited for this.

100% agree.

It's only about bankability. People know of this, so they might go watch it. Austin Butler starring in a movie with similar themes but without the name might not get nearly as much attention.

Remakes, soft reboots and sequels only work if they add something to it and tell another story. Gladiator II was an example of this done wrong, because they recycled so much that's it's almost the same movie. On the other end of the spectrum you have stuff like Blade Runner: 2049 that adds to the world, tells an original story and improves the visuals.
